Doomkid Posted September 4, 2019 Basically as the thread title asks. Is there some way to convert MIDI to MP3 using a particular soundfont? I've tried many programs now and each one wants my money to do so. Any help greatly appreciated. 0 Share this post Link to post
5 Doomkid Posted September 4, 2019 I actually found a perfect solution that does a direct conversion using a soundfont: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/keppys_midi_converter.html Took some serious hunting but this is a free option. Hooray! 6 Share this post Link to post

1 Loud Silence Posted September 4, 2019 VirtualMIDISynth (free) can do it very easily and fast. You will just need to download LAME encoder and install/extract it by VMS instruction. https://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php 2 Share this post Link to post

0 dr_st Posted September 4, 2019 If you can play the MIDI file with the desired soundfont, your sound card drive may have a setting for using the audio output as a recording device, and then any recording application can save it. 0 Share this post Link to post

You could try audacity (which supports LAME, an open source mp3 encoder), to convert to mp3. Before audacity can help you get the mp3, you will first need a seperate program to convert to OGG or FLAC, because audacity can't convert MIDI to mp3 directly. I've never tried this myself, to be honest, but it might be worth a shot. EDIT: Ah well, seems you have a solution already :P 1 Share this post Link to post
