does the doom on GBC exist?

Recommended Posts

Doom on GBC would probably suck, even if you used a co processor the GBC has a small resolution and can't display that many colors, I think someone did an NES port using a Raspberry Pi but it only worked because the NES has ~2x the resolution of the GBC, sure Wolfenstein works fine but Doom would be a horrible experience..

160x144 to be precise. So it'd need to be stretched or pillarboxed.

I recall the lowest Doom resolution being 96x64 though, I think.

Jesus 96x64? I have trouble seeing things across the room in 320x200!

Yeah. In original Doom, of course, the entire viewport taking things up is 320x200. I believe the defaults for the original Screenblocks are 3-11, with 10 and under also including the HUD.

Though I actually made a mistake - at lowest it's 96x60. Since it's 320x200, essentially you can just divide it by a tenth per Screenblocks setting.

I can't even google something like this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But I found this:

It's a homebrew port, but looks insanely good

I wonder if the same could be done for ROTT.
