Doom3 Smiley head's Safari back in 1995 I think, I liked it a lot, specially E1.

That was one of the first ones I played as well. But I don't see it as a mere custom WAD, but rather a TC (as it hacked and changed things in the executable as well).

The very first custom level set I ever played was Demonfear.

After that, I had played Biowar, Marswar, Requiem, Memento Mori, Hell Revealed and its sequel, and Scythe.

Doom95 was my first real experience with Doom, and I'm thankful it played all of these wads above. But then I discovered GZDoom.

Super Sonic Doom, NeoDoom, The Island, Cold as Hell, Ultimate Torment and Torture, Knee Deep in Zdoom, GoldeneyeDoom.

Good times.

Mars War might be the most 90s Doom Wad ever made to this date.

My experience with Doom is like many here: i played it when i was 4 years old in 1994 and it blows my mind! I played the hell out off Doom in god mode before it becomes Ultimate, so i never played Thy flesh consumed until much later. I even remember my father teaching me how to start Doom myself introducing all the code in DOS. In that time, around 1995, there were rumors about a computer virus called Michelangelo that scared the hell out off me so i stopped playing Doom for a quite long time. Supposely, the Michelangelo virus was a Teenage Mutan Ninja Turtle kind of game that, while you played, it deleted all your system and burns the internal hardware of the pc. WE thinked, back then, that computer virus could spread like normal viruses, like flu or something, so really, me and my family were pretty scared of ruining the PC that with a lot effort we bought. Around that time, after the virus craze, i bought a neat magazine with a book full of walkthroughts for all Doom 1 & Doom 2 levels (No Thy Flesh Consumed, still) that came with a CD-Rom full of wads that i still had, take a look:Doom01.jpg.3440b3ab68f12c117d8ac5d9a1031bf6.jpgDoom02.jpg.64d8ba6b5ae14c2eda9b64461bde9784.jpg

At that time i can't look inside the Cd-Rom because my CD-Driver started to go nuts, and dind't returned the cd after put them in. Porn was around, yeah, so i was scared my father or mother found it out, so i didn't tried any wad in the CD-Rom until a few years back. No Porn, No Doom.
A bit of time later, before finishing the primary school, a friend lend me PSX Final Doom, but it didn't catch much off my atention with other cool games like Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Cross around, i was more interested in JRPG at that time.
Then, around 2001 i started the Secondary school, and a friend of mine shared Doom 2 with me in like, seven or so floopy disks. I remember coming home that day and played straight to map 06 and being blow away by the song Shawn's got the Shotgun and all those freaking Mancubus and Arachnatrons. Good times!
Then, after finishing Doom 2, i started playing a lot of Survival Horror games in the PSX and then moved to play them in the NEW PC my family, after a very long time, finally bought. This was sometime around 2008.
Amnesia, was... Whoa! Nothing compares to it even today! I played a ton of Amnesia mods for a quite long time, but i was interested in other horror experiences too, so i was introduced to Ghoul Forest 3. F**K! That was unfair. I was totally unprepared! I played it in Skulltag, i think, but i didn't know at all it was a Doom 2 mod.
Some time later, i remebered Doom and search it in the HD copy i had of my previous PC (back then, 8gb PC was a total bonkers, so yeah, ten Cd-Roms full of files to search around), and started playing again... but i don't remember what sourceport i used... but i remember that i was soo stuck to play Doom only in keyboard with no mouse at all, that it felt a little annoying to play, so i quited playing again.
Then, Brutal Doom came, i downloaded the starter pack, played only the original Doom 2 campaing in i believe was GZDoom 1.8 , and quited a little bored. Played the Final Doom for PC without Brutal Doom just to play them and didn't liked them too much. I wanted a more horror styled experience, so i started reading about good wads with horror vibe in reddit, around here, and Zdoom forums. So i found Idgames and downloaded my first three wads:

https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/m-o/mbelcher

https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/barista

The first one, INFECTED AREA, blowed my mind with all that tricky levels set up full of difficult to found secret areas. I played it even when i think it was about zombies or something. I really liked it.
The second one, MIKE BELCHER's DOOM 2, was a totally neat and bizarre experience i still found interesting to this day.

Then come Barista, a neat Partial conversion that show me what can be done with a Doom mod.

After that, i played my first megawad: Ultimate Torment & Torture and i was blown away by the massive new content in there.

And a lot more come then.

After long time playing, almost five years non-stop. I wanted to play the original Doom, the one i fell in love, and i found that it was expanded into Ultimate Doom, i bought it and played the hell out off it and really fell in love with Thy Flesh Consumed.

As today, i play more oldschool wads, being Demonfear, TVR!, Hell2Pay and Perdition's Gate my favourite wads. And almost totally stopped playing in G/L/ZDoom and play almost all the 250 or so wads i collected in Doom Retro, my port of choice now.
