Fall of Society

I am using ZDoom 2.8.1  I purchased (some time ago) Ultimate Doom via GOG. ZDoom works great! Ultimate Doom works great (although not as pretty as ZDoom).

 

However: some WADS open just fine.......while others ABSOLUTELY DON'T! I grabbed 'Fall of Society'....billed as SPECIFICALLY for ZDoom 2.8.1  I unzipped it, made sure the WAD was affiliated with ZDoom.....great! It appears to do that quick load script thing........then, The Fall of Society splash screen appears......terrific. Then I go straight to vanilla ZDoom......?! What gives??

 

Some WADS load up fine!! I notice this is RARELY a problem with pk3 files. 

I'm confused!

Did you also get Doom 2? Most pwads run with that, rather than Ultimate Doom.

Looked up the project page and the project is based on Doom 2, so you'll need to get Doom 2 (meaning you need to spend another $5) to play the wad properly.

Could you include some screenshots? Since I can't make up about what you are trying to say about your problem.

@Chipper35 If you plan on playing pwads you should 100% buy Doom 2 and use the actual iwad.
