Doomworld Mega Project 2019

Don't worry, you didn't miss a sign-up thread for this. DMP2019 was closed to the public and wasn't even going to happen until I started using a trackball recently. There just wasn't enough time for me to organize a full-fledged community project before the end of the year, so in an effort to keep the annual DMP streak going (along with my own annual mapping streak) the rule for this year's project was that only I was allowed to submit a map... lol. DMP2020 will be back to normal in January.

 

Download: dmp2019.zip (zdoom 2.8.1)

 

IMPORTANT - to play this wad as intended, use the included BAT file. Put the bat file and the wad in your zdoom 2.8.1 folder and double click the bat file. This map requires splashfactor 0.00001 (type splashfactor 0.00001 in the console or +splashfactor 0.00001 in the command line). This map requires dmflags2 256 (turn off bfg aiming in gameplay options or type +dmflags2 256 in the command line). This map requires wallrunning enabled (compatibility options - physics behavior).

Doom and the bfg on steroids!

You might want to give instructions to play your demo for those not savvy with zdoom cmd line options.

i.e. extract your demo into into zdoom 2.8.1 folder and run from cmd prompt something akin to:

zdoom -iwad doom2.wad -file dmp2019.wad -playdemo dmp2019-2634-zd281.lmp

The youtube video with you using the trackball is excellent too.

One essential pillar of the Doom Community just hand delivers an entire year entry of the Doomworld Mega Project by himself.

 

The body of work is to be expected of ToD, but nevertheless, its stuff like this (Almost done as if on a whimm, when it sure isn't the case) that makes this series and ToD stand unique among the modicum of Doom level authors.

Was wondering where DMP2019 was. 

Definitely gonna give this a go soon.

 

Im hoping the DMP2020 will go back to the way it was where all ports will be supported again.

Limit removing with Doom 1 and Doom 2 textures and do whatever you want to do.

I'm guessing not, it seems like it's considered a cheat even if you design a map for it. Another idea was to make a custom rocket launcher with DECORATE where the shooter was immune to the rocket damage or something, but I didn't bother trying to make that work.
