While not exactly in the time frame specified (they were released ‘96 and ‘97 I believe) Hell Revealed and Memento Mori. Scythe from the early 2000’s and then the sequels to HR and MM were early/mid 2000’s I believe.

Welcome to Doomworld, @Kingdoom98! Enjoy your time here.

So, you're looking for highly-regarded maps and mapsets (and megawads) from the years when source ports emerged and Doom began to recover from the "exodus" caused by the arrival of Quake and true 3D? There's a lot of good material from that time. Were you looking for anything in particular, any type or genre? Or were you just looking for good maps and mapsets?

According to the tally based on votes from Doomworld members, the top 21 wads from this time period are (with links inside that thread):

  1. Scythe 2 (2005)
  2. Alien Vendetta (2002)
  3. Scythe (2003)
  4. Plutonia 2 (2008)
  5. Sunder (Maps 1 - 14 originally released in 2009)
  6. Hell Revealed II (2003)
  7. Deus Vult II (2008)
  8. Kama Sutra (2005)
  9. Suspended in Dusk (2005)
  10. Ultimate Torment & Torture (2007)
  11. Hell Ground (2009)
  12. Disturbia (2009)
  13. 2002: A Doom Odyssey (2002)
  14. Batman Doom (2004)
  15. ZPack (2008)
  16. Equinox (2001)
  17. Nuts (2001)
  18. Demonfear (2000)
  19. Ultimate Simplicity (2007)
  20. The Darkening: Episode 2 (2000)
  21. Urban Brawl: Action Doom 2 (2008)

Incidentally, Scythe X, Community Chest 1, Community Chest 2, Community Chest 3, ZDoom Community Map Project 1, The Darkening, Deus Vult, Void, Vrack, Vrack 2, and Vrack 3 were also released during that 10-11 year period.

You can look at the individual Top 10 for each year for 1999 - 2003. You can start with 1999 here (links contained within) or all of them on one page (for dconvenience, albeit without descriptions) on Doomwiki, even if not all of those maps have their own page. For 2004 - 2009, you can check out the Cacoward pages for each of those years.

There was also a list of the Top 100 Most Memorable Maps starting here (in chunks of 10 maps, with descriptions and links) and also listed here (on one page on the wiki). You can see which of those are from 1999 - 2009.

You can also view the Top 25 Missed Cacowards list, starting here (again, with descriptions and links) and also being in convenient list form here. The years are listed for each selection, so you can look at the maps from those years. Yes, there is overlap between all of these lists, but if you were to compile a list from all of these, you would probably end up with at least 70 or 80 to choose from, which should be enough maps for you to start chewing on.
