ptoing Posted February 24, 2020 Was watching decino's BTSX map24 run yesterday, and when all the Caco's came in "A cackle of Cacodemons" popped into my head. Post ideas for other demon group names :D 5 Share this post Link to post
SirJuicyLemon Posted February 24, 2020 (edited) I've heard that many Mancubus are (kinda officialy) Mancubi. But I guess it refers to the species rather than a certain group of Mancubus. For some reason, for flying monsters such as the Cacodemons, Pain Elementals and Lost Souls, I'd coin the term "a shoal of <such monster>" as if they were fishes. Obviously, they aren't, but as they are floating, the could look kind of as if they are swimming through air. (Such as those old kind of joke/philosophical questions like: "Do crabs think fish can fly?") And as for Pinkies/Demons, or demons in general (Baron/Knight, Revenant), I think of Daemonea for some reason. 1 Share this post Link to post

It follows the same principle as succubus - succubi, and incubus - incubi... 4 Share this post Link to post

ptoing Posted February 24, 2020 I was thinking more along the lines of "gaggle of geese", "murder of crows." That kinda thing. 1 Share this post Link to post
Tetzlaff Posted February 24, 2020 A mound of Mancubi and a cawomble of Pinkies (English isn‘t my first language). 0 Share this post Link to post

DynamiteKaitorn Posted February 24, 2020 My interpretation of a few demons: A rapage of Archviles. A group-hug of Cacodemons. <3 A litter of Arachnotrons. A field of Potatoes Pain Elementals. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA of Revenants. A reject of the zombies from Michael Jackson's Thriller of Former Humans. 3 Share this post Link to post
Li'l devil Posted February 24, 2020 They're simply called "A group of <monster type>". There's no need to get into this stupid English "flock", "murder", "gaggle", etc. nonsense that doesn't make any sense. 1 Share this post Link to post

There's no need to get into this stupid English "flock", "murder", "gaggle", etc. nonsense that doesn't make any sense. The tradition of using collective nouns that are specific to certain kinds of animals stems from an English Medieval hunting tradition, dating back to at least the fifteenth century. Terms of venery or nouns of assembly were used by gentlemen to distinguish themselves from yeomen and others and formed part of their education. So by saying flock of seagulls it basically means you're not a noob 7 Share this post Link to post
Li'l devil Posted February 24, 2020 Well, most of us here aren't hunters, so I don't think we need to know these specific group names, some of which, again, sound ridiculous to me. 1 Share this post Link to post
reflex17 Posted February 24, 2020 (edited) there's a city in France called Brest. Spoiler I CARE NOT FOR YOUR FANCY GROUP NAMING WAYS. I STAND ALONE, PEASANT. 4 Share this post Link to post

RonnieJamesDiner Posted February 24, 2020 Well, there's the Caco Cloud. Though in any port with infinite height, it's much less a cloud than it is... as @SiMpLeToNiUm put it, a Caco Asymptote... 3 Share this post Link to post
Gradius Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) A mischief of Imps. A sty of pinkie demons. An ossuary of Revenants. A suffering of Pain Elementals. A rage-quit of Archviles. The term is 'collective noun' by the way. 7 Share this post Link to post

I don't see any reason to come up with names for groups of specific demon types. Just call the group what it is. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chow Yun Thin Posted February 25, 2020 I've always grouped the non-former human enemies as Hellspawn instead of Demon, since one enemy has that particular name. 0 Share this post Link to post

Or is fun not allowed either? If we went on the inspirations of the names themselves, you could have: A congregation of Arch Viles A table of Pain Elementals A spectrum of Pinkies A chivalry of Hell Knights A clutter of Arachnotrons An intelligentsia of Spider Masterminds A boner of Revenants 10 Share this post Link to post
