What would groups of specific Demons be called?

Recommended Posts

I wish I was as creative as you guys, but I can't come up with that many names. I like more subtle names such as 'Spider Web' to refer to an ambush including Arachnotron(s); 'Pile of Bones' to refer to a group of Revenants; 'Salad' to refer to a spam of multiple species of demons, but only if they feature Cacodemons; 'Big Imps' to refer to a group of Cyberdemons; 'Hitscan Hell' to refer to the average TNT level; "Shit" to refer to multiple Archviles.

Because it's fun?  Or is fun not allowed either?

That's actually a great question. Could you turn it into a thread? I am sure this has never been asked before and it would be a refreshing change of things for once.

Maybe deviate it a little and combine it with other questions that have been asked lately:

  • Is the fun in playing your favorite wad not allowed?
  • Which best weapon in Doom and Doom 2 is fun?
  • Of the monsters in Doom 2, which monster is not allowed to have fun according to you?
  • Difficulty deciding which source port to pick. Can fun be a good reason for decision?
  • When you play a map, do you look for places where fun is not allowed or do you do look for places because it's fun?

Ironically these questions of jest sound more original than the questions i am taking a punt at. :P

Any former humans form a squad. Flying demons like the Cacos and the Lost Souls form a swarm. And non-flying demons form groups.

A squad of Chaingunners, a swarm of Cacos and a group of Hellknights.

Nope.

The typical Latin plural for words in -us is -i. Alumnus -> alumni. Even then, it's not the only Latin plural for words in -us, since you have for example corpus -> corpora, and virus -> virus. And even octopus -> octopodes, though that one is because it was a loanword from the Greek so they kept the Greek plural.

You get a plural in -ii if and only if the word ended in -ius. Like, if it was "mancubius" then yeah the plural "mancubii" would be potentially legit, because it would be "mancubi-us" becoming "mancubi-i". Going from -us to -ii is utterly unacceptable.

...

Or you could just go with "mancubuses" and not bother with all these specifics!!

Here is a fun idea. Let people name it what the fuck they want to name it instead of looking down on people for liking something and calling a specific thing? Toxic

Bleh, I standed corrected on the uses vs bodes vs i vs ii whatever stuff.   My mistake.

I also didn't know of the singular word alumnus.   By the usual use of alumni I thought it was like the word fish.

I blame my education!   An EDUCATION OF LIES I TELL YOU!!
