Removing announcer voice from sports videos?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to remove announcer voice from sports videos or at least reduce it, while keeping the crowd noise?

A quick and dirty way used to take advantage is that over layed voices are mono while the rest of the recording is in stereo. So one way to kill the mono/center channel, is to take the right or left channel invert it and add it to the other channel. This will kill off the mono/center channel. The resulting audio will be reduced to mono, and anything else centered in stereo will be killed off as well. So it comes at a cost and requires stereo audio.

Audacity, a free software, should be able to do that. And it may even have more advanced "center channel" extractors, such that you can define a human voice frequency range.
