Once while I was napping or sleeping I heard an insect bumping into my light fixture and thought that must be a pretty big bug.   Then I saw a maybe three inch wasp try to crawl up the front of a monitor and then drop and walk underneath behind it.    I quick went to look for something to deal with it and lost track of it.   So I went and slept out in my car.   Tried to find it the next day and never saw it again, and spent that night at my dad's.   But during the day I talked to a neighbor and found out it was a Cicada Killer.   Looking it up online that night I found out they're totally harmless to people.   I was afraid it was one of these suckers.   I saw one before outside and have seen more since in a nearby park but never one inside again.  Funniest part of the story though...   My grandmother has a phobia of birds and when I was telling her about it, she said, "Are you sure it wasn't a hummingbird?"

Jokes aside, I find it disheartening to see how many non-human creatures, especially insects, have been affected by the drastic climate change to the point of this happening. No, not in a misanthropic way that some hacks disguised as activists like to spurt out. You can sorta argue that the COVID-19 outbreak, which does cut nature some slack, is a bit overdoing it right now.

Does anyone happen to watch Brave Wilderness on YouTube? The protag of that channel, Coyote Peterson, gets himself bitten and stung by giant hornets & wasps like these for Science.

There's a show like that on cable and whenever I see a commercial for it, I go WTF. What's next, gettin stuck by medieval weapons to see how much they hurt, for science. haha. Oh yeah there's another show where these guys eat ancient packaged food like old WWII rations and shit. Anything to make up a show it seems.

 

Anyhow, fuck these giant hornet things. I don't want to see any of that shit, the normal wasps and hornets are bad enough.

I think there isn't just one another such show, but tons of them. Man vs nature shows, if you may call them.

I was watching those videos last week. The YouTube algorithm has been recommending a lot of survivalist type content. It knows.

Well that's just terrifyingly terrific, as if it wasn't bad enough that seeing the usual wasps didn't make me cower in fear enough as it is.

Last year some wasps that stung me made the mistake of building their nest in a cinder block.   I covered the back and sprayed 90% propyl alcohol in the front.    I stomped ones that fell to the ground and then threw some matches in to torch the nest and remaining ones.
