hellbent: a doom 2 megawad

Recommended Posts

this is my megawad for doom 2.

I called it hellbent because it sounds cool not because it is reflective of the story or gameplay.

As of now (5/5/2020), it contains 7 levels

tested in gzdoom and zdoom.

built-in doom builder 2 under doom 2 format.

you can see in the screenshots that I am using brutal doom however this is not a requirement

the levels aren't too long and the first 6 are about 12 minutes combined

I didn't add anything custom in so you'll still get the text screen for map07(if it works)

there isn't much of a story other than the basic UAC opens a portal you go through the portal, so on, so on.

each level picks up exactly where the previous one ended.

maps 01 to 05 are configured for difficulties while maps 06 and 07 aren't.

I'm too young to die and hurt me plenty are mockingly easy.

hurt me plenty is for beginners.

UV isn't that hard but this map set is more about having fun then raging.

the wad doesn't expect anything but mouselook is encouraged

jumping can destroy the intended level progression while crouching doesn't really do anything

I will be constantly updating this and may change some of the above

there are no new textures, monsters or weapons

there isn't really a specific gameplay them but you can't run straight through the levels you'll have to take your time

map04 does have inescapable pits so be careful!

feedback is appreciated

have fun!

this looks pretty nice but i suggest you rename the wad to something else, since there is a well known megawad with the same name already.
