Favorite Small Map ?

Sometimes, you just want to play Doom for 5 minutes while waiting for whatever and you simply don't have the time or patience to finish a medium or large level.

An example of a great small map would simply be E1M1 and MAP01 from Doom and Doom 2 respectively.

 

What are your favorite small maps ?

Most of Scythe's first episode, Doom's E1 and E3, Decimal Error from SF, and that's pretty much all that comes to mind right now.

Harmany (MAP08) from Plutonia 2, but in a masochistic kind of way. Definitely not well balanced around a pistol start, I don't care what the authors claim. But I do enjoy having to rely on infighting and slow cheesing nonsense like the sequence breaking jump to one of the keys.

 

Now, if you took the same kind of resource balancing and punishing style and extended it into a 30 minute map, I'd be quickly strangling myself with my mouse cord (not in a kinky way).

I'm not a speedrunner by any means, so anything below 1:30 is good for me

Anything from Scythe or the 1000 Lines projects would be a solid contender for me, I'm sure there's others, the early maps of AV for example but those are what come to mind right now.

wtf were they smoking when they set the par time to 30s for that level? Just did it myself and got 47s after many attempts, pretty difficult for me to get that even.

Just went and looked through the first four maps of both TNT and Doom II and both share the exact same par-times for each one, so it's safe to assume the par-times just weren't changed for TNT.
