Worst TV or Web shows based on video games?

Recommended Posts

Many people can understand that video games don't translate well into a movie, but they also sometimes don't translate well to a TV series (and in rare cases, a web series) either.

I would ask the question to you guys, what do you think is the worst TV or Web shows based on video games you can think of.

The only thing really awful I can think of is Mortal Kombat: Federation of Martial Arts, an ultra obscure interactive web series that was released by Threshold Entertainment in the summer of 2000. It saw very little attention by Mortal Kombat fans, and what they basically got was a web series with a very small (and really low) budget, terrible fighting scenes, bad acting, weak & lame special effects, and awful backgrounds. To me, in my opinion, every episode of this forgotten Mortal Kombat web series makes it look like Threshold Entertainment just took the crappiest JPEG, GIF, BMP, & PNG image files on the Internet or old PC Shovelware CDs, and superimposed the Humans (basically the actors & actresses) and very primitive CGI on top of them.

If you want to see this forgotten Mortal Kombat web series, you can easily find a playlist on YouTube.

Post your suggestions or opinions on what TV or Web series based on video games you think is the worst.

Captain N: The Game Master is memetically bad, and infamously drawn by animators who had little to no reference material.

Castlevania I'm sure is OK, but it's an anime and it fits my agenda to regard all anime as terrible.

It can be an animated series, but it can also be a live action series as well.

By the way, here's Federation of Martial Arts in all it's glory, and awfulness:

Given it's primarily made in Texas, I'm not really sure it counts as an anime (depending on your definition). It's also absolutely awesome, so shush now.

You know I said something about that then read it again and realised I should probably start with why do you even have that agenda?

And do I even want to know? I kinda can't think of any good reason why someone would be open about having an opinion because of an agenda on something if they thought it should then be taken seriously by anyone else, and the reasons I can think of are not positive things. So yeah maybe I'm better off not knowing.

If we don't take where it was made into consideration and look purely at the animation itself and art style, well, it's definitely anime, just not originating from Japan.

Ya Devilman, you tell him. It's a good question anyway.

I only thought Castlevania and the witcher (which was really based off the book) were made into shows. But I know that if some games were made into shows, they would be awful. here are some of my ideas of an awful show.

  • like a crappy Ecco the Dolphin show for like 3 year olds where the magical fairy juice was stolen and it would be like a frame per second where ecco is like in a squeaky voice, "Oh no!" and then they just happen to have the fairy juice inside of them the whole time, then credits sung by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park start playing.
  • or a Red Dead anime. I can just see John Marston killing 10 people in slow motion, then he goes, "Ah! I did kill them! (breaks into laughter)" and then a dude that is wearing like modern day clothing comes in with a whip, and the show justs assumes you know who he is, and he gives John a whipping, and John is breathing heavily on the floor and no longer has a shirt (and is incredibly fat) but his hair is still in the same position, and then the whip dude goes, "Yes, I am now the master cowboy!" then the camera zooms out to show his riding a dinosaur, and he flys away on a rainbow, then the show ends.
  • and an ongoing soft porn mockumentary of a nerdy Cody from Final Fight where he has to save the girl from a gang of over-the-top super stereotypical homosexuals that in no way shape or form would actually exist. and on the way, Cody fights ninja's and sleeps with prostitutes. and when he finally gets the girl, he asks her to marry him, and the gang just starts to cry, and it is supposed to be emotional, then the next season begins with Cody's pet bear being stolen by the same gang.

One thing, these are not supposed to be making fun of sexual orientation and be racist or sexist, they are making fun of how stupid the entertainment industry is, and how any show is a friggin' show! I just want to make sure that everyone understands that I am not trying to be rude at all, and please do not take offence to anything.

There was also this wierd 1992 South Korean animated Street Fighter film that you never heard about. References to it can be found on the internet. Better yet, the Castlevania series looks alot better, than this wierd unauthorized Street Fighter film from South Korea released in 1992.

Never mind "references", a two-second Google search reveals the entire film is on YouTube.  It looks... special.

I haven't even seen a second of that, but the creators were definately high making that film.

If you watch at 39:50, you can see actual footage of me trying to perform button inputs in SF3.

South Korean manhwa/animation is... something, I must say. Even as a guy who grew up with manganime, I find the Country of Ginseng's manhwa/animation esoterically amusing in its own as well.
