Has Mick Gordon Ever Played Classic Doom?

Recommended Posts

Apparently he praised Doom 3. It's ok that he likes it, but has he played the original games too? Has he said if he did?

"It wasn't a game I really understood until they sat me down and put a controller in my hand and say play it. And I don't know why but I remember sitting down with Marty and playing the game and it felt like Doom. It didn't feel like something else, it didn't feel like a modern first-person shooter. It felt like a Doom game. And we had a brief discussion as to how that kind of happened and he told me it was all about timing and pacing and things like that. But it was the weirdest thing to grab a controller 20 years after playing Doom back in the day and it felt the same, it felt like a Doom game."

"I'm a really big fan of 90s video game music, to me some of the best music in the industry came from that period. The stuff that went into the original Killer Instinct, the original Doom, and Banjo-Kazooie, and then Perfect Dark and those sort of great games from that period. One thing all of those games shared in common was that the music was really front and center. You really knew the music back to front, you could sing those melodies back to front."

These are what I could find from his NoClip interview. It's possible other interviews/talks have more information.
