Realisim AND Surrealsim

Heh, people think those two can't be combined. Feh, this project I'm working on will put both of those together. geocities.com/dragon_69283/projects.html]A few screenies for this; All I have done so far is the inside of the hangar, and the south side of the complex. Hellishness comes around lvl 2-3. Just started a couple hours ago. (this thing was inspired by playing a bit of Raptor, seeing you enter the hangar after an epsode beaten jsut clicked something) Just the jet itself is detailed. This, btw is an experiment of mine to see just how much detail I can cram into a level without making it shitty, and to still be fun.

Erhm, how?

"Surrealism" is something unreal done in a way so it looks realistic.

Surrealism is in fact a cross between realism and non-realism.

  • This ship looks like a pile of lego. Why not use slopes?
  • brown walls + metal gray + red lights? watch the textures. Details are nothing if the color theme is of bad taste.
  • Uncentered, poor 3D gun. You should find someone to polish it for you if, like me, you're not teh king of psp.
  • If you follow the idea of realistic levels, I hope you'll make use of polys.

I'm working on the weapons, you should see the shotgun. :)

Nice looking hangar and ship. Actually, nice looking shots overall. Yes, slopes would give the ship more realism, but if you're not using ZDooM then that's not an option.

Well, actually I AM using Zdoom, but it's an older version (1.17), which can run in msdos. (I use it for all my vanilla playing, and for editing.) Once I fully understand DCK's GD files, I plan on making one for zdoom, for those backwards peoples whou can't get the hange of editing in windows like me...

A friendly advice. When you make lighting on architecture like that, you should have the light being projected on the building. It is easier to do and looks more realistic.

Update:
New screenshots are up.
The outside lights are fixed.
The runway strip lights now shine.
Better weapons.
And some more stuff.
