Good WAD's with custom bosses / "claustrophobic" maps

Q. 1. If not count total convertions. Do you know any with such bosses?

A. Not too complex one.

B. less then ~ 150 monsters on single map, interesting design.

C. Dark ambient music...

Oddly, someone asked (almost) this exact question about a week ago, maybe some of the replies will help you out:

• Strain (also partial conversion) Apparently no custom final boss is present, instead yet another Icon fight.

• Maskim Xul (partial conversion)
• Going Down (the final boss is presented at map29, a modified SMM that has high health)

With the exception of Strain, most of things listed here are fairly new.

In case you don't know what partial conversions are, they are basically Doom mods that modified a bunch of resources but not as excessive like total conversions. The core gameplay of Doom is intact, in most cases.

UAC Ultra, 10 maps more or less, highly held by the community too. Also the Temple of the Lizard Men Series I think, been a few years since I played the first one but I think the series has custom bosses overall, they're also a very popular set of wads, dunno about its quality though but I assume it's good.

I'm very surprised no-one has mentioned Vader's excellent Thunderpeak yet - note that it's ZDoom-only. (I'm also surprised there aren't more mods which make use of the boss, as the sprites are amazing.)
