Random level generators for FPS games?

Recommended Posts

Pretty sure there was one for Wolf. Once you get into 3D engines though, that stuff gets a lot harder.

Soldier of Fortune 2 shipped with a random level generator. It was kind of fun, but rather generic, it was just giant outside levels with hills and ravines in different places, with some prefab structures, and a few different parameters for completion of the level.

Not standalone tools, but some FPS-roguelites such as Eldritch, Strafe and Tower of Guns feature some random level generation.

Also there is 7 Days to die, an open-world survival FPS game, which has a random world generator that generates all the landscape and towns, though it uses randomized prefabs for buildings and other points of interest.

Half-Life also had a program called RandMap, which also randomly generated levels for counterstrike, sven coop, and others. However it's pretty outdated, and only works properly for the WON versions of Half-life.

EDIT: Damn, i'm pretty blind, didn't notice that randmap is also in the OP.

Speaking in-game level/world generator...

TES 2:Daggerfall's world is random generated. Also, all Shadow Warrior 2 mission levels are random generated too, and both are buggy at some degree.

Are we talking a mission creator with a randomization feature or a full-fledged level creator that can make custom level geometry?

Daggerfall is procedurally generated, not randomly generated. There's a difference.
