Does anyone else see this?

I've been meaning to bring this up on here for ages and kept forgetting and I couldn't find an appropriate thread to put it in either so I thought I'd just put it here. 

Anyway, It's to do with the original Doom box art and something that I can't stop seeing.

 

The demon on the right of the pic (the one that's grabbing Doomguy's arm)..... if I look at his face....... then in my peripheral vision it looks like he's wearing a black glove and giving Doomguy the finger. Can anyone else see this or am I mad? I first saw it while loading DOOM up on PS4 as it displays the box art full screen and now I can't stop seeing it.

Well... I think you're seeing the Doomguy's thumb and inserting the suggestion in your own mind that its the demon giving him the finger when it's not, lol. I tried, I don't see it.

 

Hard to say why. In a lot of ways, I think you could argue that one's perception of reality is relative based on your experiences. Maybe you convinced yourself as a kid this was the case and it's actually not? Lol.

I know he's not actually giving him the finger ,I've only just noticed this recently. I didn't have this box art as a kid I grew up on PSX Doom.

 

But yeah....... It's weird and ones own perception of stuff is different to another. I showed this my wife and she saw it instantly and I've showed it to the people and they were not so convinced. Just thought I'd bring it up on here and see what the Doomers think.

Oh- well, then I think you could just classify it as an optical illusion.

 

I've seen this artwork a billion times growing up, and I've studied it so much I find it hard to see anything else. What I always thought was bizarre was the gun arms on the barons and the fact that the gun he's using isn't in the game, lol. Over the years I've just guessed it was just an interpretation of the chaingun or pistol.

Yeah, its only an illusion caused by Doomguy's black gloves. Still, unintentionally pretty cool!

I think it's in front of his palm from the viewer's perspective, you can see the tip of it just starting to cover the shadow from his thumb. Still looks unnatural.

Okay, what! Doomguy clearly has 4 fingys on his left hand! The other hand has to at least 5 fingers, even though only 4 are visible. The other marine has 5 fingers on his left hand, so in the box cover-art universe, not all marines have a missing finger on their left hands. Then, there are the demons. The closest one clearly has 4 fingers, and the others have 5. So who the hell is this demon!? There is also the green blood. ^{And the Demon booty}

 

off-topic (well, more off-topic) I actually believe that the Marine in the background is Doomguy, warning his fellow marine not to fight the demonic hoard. I believe this because this seems to take place in a red area. So you would think hell. Then I thought about it, and it could be Mars. This marine has a demon on his arm, and a demon at his leg, so he could be dead in a few seconds if he doesn't notice it (which it seems like he doesn't). After this, the marine in the back decides to avenge his fellow comrades death. he takes out the remaining demons, then gets out of there.

Sorry to burst your bubbles but if you zoom in on an hd pic of the cover art you’ll see Doomguys pinky is some distance away from his other fingers and sort of blends in with his palm. He has all 5 fingers . . .

I thought that at first too, but the lack of definition beyond the small semi-circle esque shape in his palm makes it look much more like detailing of the glove rather than a finger. I've stared at it for ages and I just don't see a finger. It's glove detail to me.

Oh god, NO! Not the Doom2 cover as well! This series is plagued with deformed characters on the box art!

 

Actually, I checked out the two HD scans of Doom's cover art that I have, and sure enough, there is a subtle fifth finger - thank fuck!

that's still a broken pinky. I mean, seriously, try to position your fingers in a way like this! A few bones would have to crack in order for it to look like this!

 

Also, is that hole positioned at the bottom of the Cyberdemon there so he can go to the bathroom? This has confused me so much ever since I saw it, booting up the Unity port.

Just got back to this and it's gone from pissed off demons in your peripheral vison to deformed doom guys and cyberdemon baby arms....
