Bloodfalls 2 (decino mapping contest)

About 1200 on easy, 2000 on medium and 2600 on hard. It might be possible without freelook, but a lot of monsters will be obove your view height and to far away for the autoaim to properly work.

i don't think that Decino will be happy to play with freelook to be honest, i am not either, but i will try it right away :)

 

(of course with no freelook)

I just tested the map without freelook and everything aside from like 4 monsters is perfectly killable, so sorry for my retarded assumption that "a lot" of monsters wouldn't be.

yes i just finished the map,  will give a proper feedback asap (the only monsters that i missed were the ones you said, i had to noclip). So... i m uploading the video (more than 1 hour) and then you will see :)

actually i was a little harsh with you! so don't expect too many compliments hahahaha

 

but yes at least you can see what to fix and what not to fix, in general i think the map was too easy probably because monsters were not very well placed, it felt kinda random in some parts and you were very generous with health (even if i think i couldnt find any armor for the whole map). I prefer thoughtful encounters rather than random imp squishing and bfg spamming, i love the rocket launcher but you gave me a bfg too early and almost no rockets for the first half, then i had both and tons and tons of ammo. Cyberdemon placements were poor, i didn't notice them at all, i got killed lot of times of course, mostly by random revenants rockets and mancubuses that i couldn't see at all but i played very relaxed and saved a lot. Fact is that i was up for a challenge but i got mostly disappointed and when i am disappointed i play relaxed :P

 

I think there is a lot to be fixed there, but this is just my opinion and i hope you will get more feedback. Will tell you once the video is ready!

It's fine, i'm glad about any actual feedback, there are a few armor pickups through out the map, but generally I'm sorry that the map didn't live up to your expectations. I'll try to incorporate your critisism as much as possible in the time I have left.

Looks like a fun map, unfortunately I can' test it as I still have my hands full getting through 10 years of community WADS. I've been at it for 9 months now, but finally nearing the end of 2010-2019 (I was absent from Doom during that time, real life etc).

 

That said, I can tell from the screenshots that the contrast on coloured lighting seems a little strong. Is it safe to assume you were going for the PSX aesthetic? I actually like that effect, however I think it could use a little desaturation.

 

The green/red lighting being so saturated makes it clash a little. It would require only minor tweaking but the results should be substantial. It's more of a suggestion than actual criticism.

 

Then again, maybe it's intended. In which case feel free to disregard the above.

I will have a video up soon. In that play through, I was slightly quicker than the screenshot you saw above.
