ChangedDM.wad (Changed recreated in the DOOM engine)

We are all kind of familiar with TC recreating classic movies that were released in the 1990s, and TCs based on retro video games released in the 2000s (rarely) and the 2010s.

 

For a special Christmas day gift for you, I decided to release my mostly less-flawless executed recreation of a lesser known 2010s indie title.

 

Here it is:

This is ChangedDM.wad. This is my attempt at recreating the 2018 PC indie game "Changed" in the DOOM engine. All 11 areas are recreated (by me) in this Mini-Episode PWAD that I've compiled for you to experience yourself.

I had to keep things simplified to make this PWAD work, for example all doors require a press of a switch due to how it's a pain to get doors to open without switches in DOOM Builder, but the results speaks for themselves.

 

What do you think of this PWAD recreation (a DOOM engine demake of the indie game "Changed")? Feel free to comment on this Mini-Episode PWAD that I've created.

A little late to the party here, (about 2 years) but I'm still doing this anyway.

 

In terms of recreating the maps of changed in doom, you are successful, in terms of making a fun experience, I feel you have failed.

All of the combat is really boring (anything with high tier enemies is just mindless BFG with the amount of ammo given) and enemy placement is really crammed up, probably because a lot of areas in changed are small hallways, and doom wasn't really meant to be like that, maybe you could've sacrificed map accuracy for more larger areas. Also, because there isn't any custom text on those intermission cards (its like that thing you see before you enter dead simple, not too sure if that's what you call it though,) the 3 endings at the end of the wad has no reason, though I can assume that's pretty hard to do, make 3 different cards for 3 different endings. One big problem is map 8 seems to be broken (got softlocked in a room and had to use noclip) and the exit doesn't seem to work (unless I'm just stupid)

 

I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe it would've been better if you spent more time on this and made a TC rather than a recreation. I am really sorry if I came off as a mean person, there isn't really any way I can sugarcoat it.

Ok, after playing a little bit of doom 2 again, it does have some crammed areas, I guess what meant to say was that rooms are crammed with a ton of high tier enemies (like, a lot) and you can just bottleneck em easily.

thats what I'm trying to do I'm sacrificing bits of the map in changed so that the gameplay could be more fun and changing the lore a bit too

Nah but in all honesty, the screenshots are broken. If you don't mind, I'd like to see them re-uploaded, just to give me a small insight of what to expect before playing.

I'm new to doom but I am actually making a total conversion mod of changed in doom

 

Edit: I might ask people to playtest soon(maybe a month later from this post or two)
