Awesome I love the secret aspect, I always love cramming secrets into my maps

 

The concept of making a castle map eludes me at the moment and my idea well is dry, plus I seem to have a hard time working with textures that are not the base textures but I'll see if I get any ideas :)

Thanks for the mention buddy, that was an experimental map that took forever to make. Glad it inspired you :)

 

I have always been the most fascinated with Doom and secrets, I think each map should be loaded with em haha

Here's my map! Requires the resource in order to function properly.

 

Map Name: Castledoomia

Author: Late Night Person

Music: "The Discolored Wall" from Castlevania: Bloodlines by Michiru Yamane

Sky: e2 sky from my upcoming wad "Doom: Raging Anarchy"

Format: Boom

Difficulty: Yes (originally no)

Build Time: 7 1/2 hours

Comments: Enjoy!

 

UPDATES 1: removed collision for the two flag props and fixed a HOM in a BFG secret

 

UPDATES 2: added difficulty options (HMP is still the intended way to play though)

 

UPDATES 3: improved the lighting in certain areas and added more items

Format: UDMF

Difficulty Settings: Yes. Higher difficulties = more enemies

Build Time: 5 hours, 7 minutes (roughly)

Comments: I think I went a little bit overboard and a little over ambitious... oh well :P

Sky: DS2SKY01 from http://mekworx.the-powerhouse.net/meks-box-o-skies/

Format: DOOM in DOOM2.

Difficulty Settings: Easy, Medium and Hard.

Build Time: 5h08m13s62ms

Comments: An interesting challenge, the texture pack was hard to get used but I decided on a colour palette and worked from there. The map can be completed without secrets albeit in a tedious manner. UV-MAX is a lot more engaging and harder way to play this map. I have tried to spot all sequence breaks but I am sure I have missed something! I'll keep the spare three hours in my back pocket to fix anything that arises... The sky is 512x256 so I had to enter it on the texture table to make it fit properly. This means that you have to load GOTHIC-TX after the map or otherwise some textures mess up.

I'm having a go at this. 2 hours in so far. Just a warning - these fence textures are completely borked in PrBoom+. These are supposed to be recessed into the floor -32 units. Looks okay in Zdoom ports.

V3 - Fixes and Changes

• Fixed the items in the gatetower windows clipping into the floor.

• Added basic Mapinfo entry since it's for GZDoom (map is now CTMAP01)

• Made the dummy sectors outside the map invisible on the automap

• Upgraded the sky texture

• Changed the midi (it's a bit more mysterious again)

It is a small map if you playing without picking up secrets and know where you need to go: Just one key, 2-3 sections and you're done :v
