Yo, 'tis I once again!

 

Map name: Testicular Armageddon

Midi: Final stage from T2 The Arcade Game on the Mega Drive

Build time: 6 hours

Format: Doom: Doom 2

Gimmicks: All of them

Comments: No medkits/stimpacks for you in UV! You do get soulspheres though. The name is a spin on the term 'ball-buster".

 

UPDATE 1: Ported the map to Doom 2 format.

UPDATE 2: Added an exit sign and two more cacodemons.

As per the rules, we're working in Vanilla format, not Boom. We aren't working with the vanilla limits however. Therefore you need not worry about visplane overflows and other such limitations. Could you change the map format to Doom 2 (doom) please?

Also, for the gimmicks, you choose 2 from the list. So for example, the gimmicks used could be a Cyberdemon Turret and a Hot Start OR a Cacoswarm and a Rocky Cavern. You need not use all of those gimmicks, it's just required that you use two of the given list I wrote out.

Map Name: Perfectly Hated

Format: Required Doom 2 format

Difficulty Settings: Yes

Build Time: 5 and a half hours-ish

Gimmicks Used: Doom 1 roster/weapons, Central platforming section to connect all of the areas, rocky cavern with lost souls and specters, and a slight alteration of some of the other gimmicks.

Comments: Fun to make, bit of a learning curve with the format (can map UDMF in my sleep).  The map is short and easy.

Build Time: 6 hours

Gimmicks Used: Cyberdemon turret with BFG, hot start with caco swarm, circular room w/ barons of hell, rocky cavern with lost souls and pinkies (and more!), a central platforming section connecting multiple areas, and a damaging floor central to the whole map with damaging stairs to escape to the beginning. 

Comments: I had big plans for this map that I obviously didn't have time for. Needs a lot more detail and several areas got truncated pretty hard due to the time limit. I'm not great at Doom so difficulty balancing might be off. Also I accidentally started in Boom then switched to Doom 2, so hopefully nothing is broken. Visually it's a pretty loose resemblance, but gameplay-wise I used 6/8 gimmicks, so hopefully that makes up for it.

I just realized that my initial submission was NOT vanilla compatible. I made some edits so it should meet the requirements now. My apologies - I only took an additional 20 minutes or so to fix, I hope that doesn't disqualify me!

I actually couldn't finish my map under 6 hours, I'm not that fast mapping. So my map might not included in the wad, but still I want to share it

Map: I Hate Thee, Perfectly

Build Time: A very difficult but fun 6 Hours

Gimmicks Used: A Cyberdemon Turret guarding a secret BFG, Circular Rooms with Barons on Perimeter, Central Platforming Area with access to multiple areas, damaging floor with only escape as back access to start, Pinky cave...(I included most of the gimmicks in some way).

Comments: My Speed-tribute to John Romero, including inspiration from Perfect Hatred, Against Thee Wickedly, and Sigil. Super Shotgun is available but not on main path. Uses full spectrum of Doom 2 Monsters.

Started The Hate Flow as a speedmap, but wasn't so happy with it, so I've decided to make it as a non-speedmap homage to Perfect Hatred. It's had 4 hours' work so far and I estimate it wants at least another 10. I'll credit this event as inspiration for it, but I'm not gonna assume it gets a look in for this collection.

Not the Boom map format. But custom switches and animated textures are a Boom feature, I don't know if there's any less advanced port that supports them.

I see. Our target port is PRBoom (knit removing) but we’re mapping in Doom 2 format. Since that’s the port we’re using, do you think there will be any issues?
