Does no one get excited for movies anymore?

Hmm, no. I don't really get excited for them much anymore. 

 

Most of my favourite movies are from the 80's or 90's. That's not to say there hasn't been any good ones since then (there have been plenty). However, in the last 5-7 years I've found most of them to be CGI fests to make up for low-effort acting and shallow characters/stories. You still get some gems though, it's not that bad.

 

There is some good movies and indie efforts out there, but Hollywood is on the decline, it has lost its touch. They mostly rehash classics and somehow mess them up, no matter how good the source material was. Then again Dune looks to be promising but I remain sceptical for obvious reasons.

 

Still, I'd prefer if they went back to making original and daring movies. Believe it or not there was a time they experimented a lot with that, it gave us some of the best classics ever made. There was a sharp uptick in remakes after the financial crises and it never really went away. I think they've become too risk averse now.

Despite Hollywood's severe aversion to new ideas and watch as it plunders the same handful of films from 40 years ago and remaking them or giving them pointless sequels, their bullshit hasn't killed my love for movies. I always managed to find new ones to watch and there's so many made these days in a single year that I'm still trying to catch up with ones I've wanted to see for a really long time that were released half a decade ago. Sure, there's a lot of crap to wade through, but if you love 'em like I do, you'll always find something cool to watch.

Its too fucking good to teach some cruelties of the reality we live on.

The intro sequence showcasing the life of a bullet is simply amazing.

 

The first films i watched when my parents decided to, finally, contract cable TV around 2010 were Seven Samurais by Akira Kurosawa and 8mm with Nicholas Cage.

Kurosawas was a master filmmaker, so it was no surprise the movie was good.

But 8mm took me by surprise on how deep the argument is, especially at exposing and critizacing something that is one of the ugliest sins of the humanity since long time.

As good as Lord of War for sure.

 

Hereditary is just an amazing piece of acting, without it the film is bonkers from every angle. Its Toni Collette terrifying act the one that bring it up and round it up to what it actually is. The cast was just perfect for that movie.

8mm is a very good movie and Cage is definitely very good in it.

 

I think the issue I have with The Wicker Man remake is its existence is still a pretty heinous insult to the original even if it is funny bad.

I don't get super "hyped" for films any more, but I think that's more just me getting older. When you're younger I think you do get more excited about things, more "OMG this will be the best thing EVER!", whereas as you grow older that over-excitement becomes less common.

 

I still thoroughly enjoy watching them though. There's a bunch of films I am definitely going to watch as soon as they come out, such as:

• The new James Bond
• The Batman
• The new Suicide Squad looks fun
• Black Widow
• Godzilla vs. Kong
• Mortal Kombat looks ridiculous in a good way
• The Matrix 4
• The King's Man
• Death on the Nile
• Free Guy
• The Green Knight
• The new Candyman sequel

 

I'm not frothing at the mouth about them, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited to watch them.

Hmm...I don't even know the last time I sat down and watched a movie by myself - it's always been these pointless "family movie nights" we occasionally have in the house, especially around the holidays. Perhaps it's because I find YouTube more entertaining or I just feel more productive doing things on my PC. I used to watch movies a lot (and even come up with some on my own, writing mock-up movie information on paper)...but I guess I've found other sources of entertainment.

Nicholes Cage´s acting is just so charming, the guy may not be talented in the classical sense but you can feel the passion he lends to his every role, even if the film is be mediocre or just bad.

On another note did you see a Colour out of space the H. P. Lovecraft adaptation with Cage? That movie was nuts and kinda hilarious acting and script wise, lol.

Dude that scene in Hereditary when the girl gets her head cut off by the pole, the brother being in shock and then him slowly driving home and getting to bed, while his parents find her body in car next morning which then sudenly pans on her severed head FUCKED ME UP.

The plot of Alien revolves around worker profit sharing, exploitation, and a business shifting externalized costs and risks onto workers and communities in order to increase profits. Watch that argument they're having at the beginning of the movie about stake-holding, profit, and decision-making.

 

I found it a little dull when I first saw it 15 years ago but I watched it again recently and I think it's a masterpiece.

I wouldn't recommend watching movie trailers, they often sabotage the film's image. Try looking for movies that fit your current interests; I found IMDb helpful for finding films related to the ones I've watched.

i was blown away when i watched joker for the first time with 0 knowledge and i did the same with the plataform

looks like they are making a batman movie in the same vein as joker so im also depriving myself from information (hell i dont even know what actor is making batman or how his costume looks)

I rewatched Terminator 2 the other day and realised there are so many memorable scenes.

- Starting future battle / introduction

- Naked Arnie beating up Bikers

- Arnie dropping Roses revealing shotgun

- Also the first encounter of the Ts, are they both bad?

- Big truck stunt in canals chasing John, also the tyre on fire end of scene

- T 1000 warping through cell bars, actually almost all of those type of scenes are at least a little notable, many of which referenced in pop culture

- Arnie with minigun blasting cop cars

- Helicopter chase scene with under bridge stunt

- Sarrah's terrible nuke dream

- Arnie giving thumbs up as he self terminates. Fun fact that was the first scene in a movie that ever got me teary, I remember as a kid thinking "what the? This has never happened before"

 

I've probably missed a few scenes but they're all subjective. Now let's pick a current movie and quantify all its memorable or impactful scenes. You probably get like 1 or 2 on average.
