MFG38 Posted May 23, 2021 So I looked into the ONUKEA0* animation bug that @Captain Toenail reported, and the cause was easy to find - turns out there wasn't a row defined for them in the ANIMATED lump, even though I swear I added them in. I should've prepared for people to be able to see things. All enemies are high tier, but all the weapons are high tier too. That's why it's called High Class Bypass! The room you enter on 7:20 is actually the room I am the least proud of. So many issues were found by other people in that single room! But then again, Hindsight is 20/20. All I can do now is try to learn from my mistakes in that room, and try to pay more attention to every individual room in upcoming levels. The secrets seem to be abit overpowered... When I test, I try to not use any secrets, since I would like to balance for people who don't know where every secret is, but when I get around to adding secrets, I always add a lot, since that is what I like to find in secrets. It appears I have created an issue where the secrets in my levels are WAY stronger than anyone may need. On 19:07 the bars are not aligned, I didn't realize. Again, on a darker source port this would be less of an issue. But being the problem so easy to fix (I should've just made those lines one unit shorter), I can't really put the blame the on the player. 18:06 nah, I was toying around with symmetric secrets, you may have noticed that there are other places on the level where there is a secret on two opposing sides of the same room. The idea was to make a play on that, by placing, instead of a Secret, an Archvile. 19:22 "Very cool, a lot of progress" I'm dying... That's partially the reason why I was so self-concious about "A Short Ascent", because I knew I made it in a rush, and I knew I could do better... I gave this try in GZdoom and I encoutnered some bugs: MAP10: you can jump to the secret soulsphere from above, but you will become stuck if you do so. The door should be openable from the "outside", too. MAP16: you can fall down and become stuck in the gap around the "water stairs" near start. myolden Posted May 28, 2021 Those error messages for map 22 are because I used linedefs to label voodoo conveyors and sign the map. Nothing in the map should be broken because of it but if @MFG38 wants I'll remove them and re-upload the map. 1 Share this post Link to post

MFG38 Posted June 3, 2021 Right, apologies to everyone for failing to release v1.0 last weekend. I was hit with a motivation spike to finish up a personal project that'd been on hold for a while and focused on that, but now that that's out of the way, I can actually focus on doing the final checks on this one and releasing it. I'll be doing a playthrough of the full mapset over the next couple days and, if nothing game-breaking shows up, releasing v1.0 either this weekend or early next week. BoxY Posted June 4, 2021 I finished playing RC1 a few days ago and had a blast, a lot of the maps I missed out playing before ended up being really good, especially map10 which was fantastic. The only bug I ran into is that in map28 it's possible to skip the raising trigger for these hidden sectors and fall in them after the underground bridge section: The only thing I felt was missing from a final release was a custom graphic and midi from the level intermission screen. For level ordering I think it feels fine except difficulty-wise map11 should probably come later and map17 and 24 can be earlier but it seems reasonable the way it is. Also I realised that I ended up being the guy who made by far the ugliest looking map in the wad, oops. Guess I'll try harder next time. 4 Share this post Link to post

Flesh maps are always gonna be ugly, that's what flesh maps are for. They are still an important part of Doom. (luckily it's not a terribly bad one as you're likely to die when you fall into it) It's a very simple solution, @MFG38 if you want to you can add to the final wad without having to copy my wad again. Especially MAP10 and the last few maps were both super-interesting gimmick maps but I feel every map had some shining moment to them which made each one fun in a way.
