LavaWave Posted April 10, 2021 (edited) It is a FPS game maker, it's engine is dated tough, the graphics are akin to the first half life, it uses md2 models and such but it's easy to pick up and create classic retro fps shooters with it akin of quake 2 and half life. You can make easy scripted events with it's map editor, you don't need to write a single line of code to make cut-scenes and stuff, it's simple and easy to learn, so you don't have to be a programmer to make complex stuff or at least as complex as the engine allows. Main page https://sourceforge.net/projects/retribengine/ Moddb page https://www.moddb.com/engines/retribution I also created this old project that is on hiatus (lost interest in it, sadly) https://www.moddb.com/engines/retribution/downloads/xeno-effect-3d-demo Gamejolt page of said project https://gamejolt.com/games/XenoEffectDemo/567287 This engine is sadly obscure and it deserves a chance to be known for those who want to make single player fps maps/games with it in the style of old games like quake 2 or half life or even classic doom style. (shoot anything that moves) It's been abandoned since 2008 I believe, it was never really popular, there's very little content for it, besides my own, though it's map editor does get complex the bigger your map becomes, it uses a panel system and it becomes quite an eyesore if you are making large complex levels, it also never had multiplayer mode for those who are interested in it, it's only single player mode, be sure to check out corridors of power, it's made by the creator of the engine himself to give you a taste of the engine. It's very good for a free engine. This is what I made a long time ago (File long lost, sorry, I don't have it anymore either) 3 Share this post Link to post

Wadmodder Shalton Posted April 16, 2021 Looks like a crappier version of GoldSrc. 0 Share this post Link to post
LavaWave Posted April 16, 2021 Well it's made for free by one guy :) but it's quite good for what it is. With easy to use event system and the such. Since it's made by one guy and the final version was released in 2008 IIRC yeah it's not as good as a commercial engine such as goldsrc. 0 Share this post Link to post
Taw Tu'lki Posted April 16, 2021 Nice. Reminds me beta and alpha version of 3D shooters from 90s. 0 Share this post Link to post
