"Half Moon" A 30 Minute Speedmap Community Project (Submissions Closed)

Can I submit an older map? There was a 30 minute speedmap thread over a year ago that never turned into a project, so my map has been floating in the void.

Title: 30 Minutes of Flesh

Format: Boom

Author: Spectre01

Misc. Author Info: Prefers not to straferun.

Description: Short and punchy BFG romp in a Fleshtech Hell setting with some classic "slaughter 101" gameplay. Takes me over 2 minutes to casually clear and resources shouldn't be an issue. The layout and gameplay was done is just over 30 minutes with a bit of extra time on lighting and making sure textures are aligned. Straightforward arena fight. Enjoy!

I'm working on a map but I'm taking a break as I need to do other things (don't worry I still know how much time I have). Here's what I was able to do in ~5-6 minutes.

So here's the thing I have been working on: Zin's Cathedral

There may be a bug or two that I didn't realise, if so then give me a shout.

 

Map Name: Zin's Cathedral (as already stated)

Map Format: Boom

MIDI Track: Demon's on the Prey from Ultimate Doom

Build Time: 30-35(?) minutes and 10-15 minutes of testing/tweaking

Description: Just a castle/cathedral map with bricks and marble (and a touch of FIREBLU!)

Custom Stuff: Patched up Textures by Gothic

Edit: I had to fix how after going into the teleporter after you get the blue key, you can't go back. It's fixed now.

Edit Edit: I made some slight visual/game-play changes. Not much else.

This is actually harder than the last one I think. I've got something done in about 28 minutes, but I'm gonna need more time to figure out some mechanics as Hexen/UDMF are more familiar to me than Doom format now. Then putting monsters in, choosing music, etc.

I sure hope that this have better monster placement and more caution with the difficulty than tenth gear (looking at you map 28)

Anyone know why a door wont work properly when both ceiling and floor height are at 0 and both linedefs given action 31? It just moves like an inch and nothing happens.

 

Its taking me hours to make this work lol

Sounds like you have an adjacent ceiling that's too low. Doors open to 8 units below the lowest adjacent ceiling.

Alright here's mine...

 

Name: Cruciforms

Format: Doom

Music: Into the Beast's Belly

 

Just shy of 30 mins on the base build, FOREVER getting very basic shit to work that I'd forgotten followed by fixing up textures and adding monsters. If that's me bending the rules a bit then I do apologize, but I had a specific way I wanted this to work and I had to take a break plus I was busy w/ other stuff. If it could do with more monsters lemme know and I can amend! MAP24 onward works fine cause of the theme.
