You know most Doom weapons are, you know, actual weapons right? Like the fist is Kevin Cloud's arms, the shotgun and most other guns were toys, etc? There's two videos by decino that talk about Doom sprites, one of them showing you the original weapons and how the sprites for things like the bfg were made by combining and editing some of the toys.

That fist is a bit off. It's missing all the hair to give it that extra oomph.

Got it as a Christmas present from my brother a few years ago. So yes, I have an authentic Doom shotgun.

And just like that, it finally clicked in my head that calling it a Beavertooth in Doom 3 was probably a reference to that.

 

I mean, y'know, aside from that pesky fact about chopping down trees and such.

lol, reminds me of that PDA entry about the accidental shipment of a bunch of chainsaws to Mars 😂 Despite being the black sheep of the series, Doom 3 had quite a few strokes of genius..

Was playing Doom 3 at night back than, i really had to hold myself back with laughing about that to not wake my Parents up^^

Bloody Hell! I've been wondering for years what is the 'four squares' blob in the top of the chainsaw handle in the game sprite - safety notices!! I'd never have guessed that in a million years.

Alright, forgot about this. But here's a real life Doom shotgun in all its glory:

So there's everyone's favorite shotgun, the Tootsietoy Dakota cap gun. I did take the orange tip off the barrel, just looked off.

 

And this is just a double barrel shotgun I found at Runnings when I was shopping for other things. I figured the single barrel needed a companion.

It's really kind of neat though, it has a cocking sound for each of the hammers, and it has a firing sound when the triggers are pulled. The neatest thing, in my opinion though, is that it came with four plastic shotgun shells, and you can break open the action, insert them, and when you open the breach, it's spring loaded so the shells pop out. 

 

And yes, both of them are on the wall above my computer desk.

Yea was thinking that too, especially cause it looks like it weighs like 30 pounds. You'd need to be a basketball player to handle that thing
