Is there anything better than falling asleep outside in the sun

"fuck if I know mate, I stole it".

Although your entire story was entertaining (and eye-opening), that phrase just killed me! I'm still chuckling.

Back on topic: For those that have difficulty falling asleep, a couple of suggestions are to get a healthy dose of daily exercise if possible, and to practice a relaxing activity (such as yoga or meditation).  Researchers also recommend avoiding "screen time" (i.e., TV, computers, cellular phones, tablets) for about an hour before bed time. Apparently, the hormonal disruption and cognitive stimulation are detrimental to getting a good night's rest.

I was a lot younger and a lot more foolish back then heh.

I was still staring blankly at the back of the car as he sped away, my brain struggling to process the audio input it had just received.

I honestly had no idea the car was stolen, probably because I was just happy to get a ride home after what I'd been through. I was wet, cold, tired and my face was throbbing from multiple blisters. Not to mention groggy from the drinking the night before.

I can't remember half of the gibberish he was talking about in the car, but those few parting words at the end I will never forget.

Let that be a lesson to you (and to everyone else), not to fall asleep under a gorse bush in the winter time. Whether or not you've been warming your cockles with a few nips. []

There is - falling asleep on bare concrete in nothing but your underwear.

Falling asleep on your bed, bathed in warm afternoon summer sunshine, with your partner cuddled up next to you. In the buff.

I think the operative word in the question was "better", not "worse". []

For a hilarious example of "worse" (oh, far, far worse), read @Final Verdict's post in this thread here.

So how good are you guys at sleeping?

Maybe I missed it but I don't think anyone's brought up sleep apnea.

It's not just obese folks (though high body fat % certainly makes it worse)

The leading theory last I heard is that we aren't chomping meat and roughage as kids in modern times, which in the past would stretch out our palates, preventing airway constriction in sleep.

I've never had a problem falling asleep, but I'd always be awake at 4AM or soon after.

At one point I was taking a handful of Benadryl and melatonin 4 hours before when i'd want to fall asleep.

This would certainly put me to sleep but I'd still wake up in the same amount of time feeling awful.

I took the apnea test and I was borderline. I went ahead with the CPAP though and now I sleep like a mf'in champ. Waking up early is actually a struggle now which seems like a weird flex but my body seems to be very glad to be able to sleep now.

tl;dr if you have access to medical care, get a sleep study!

time to be necromancer. believe it or not, falling asleep in the mild cold (+2 to -1) is also an interesting experience. Just make sure someone is with you to check on your vitals every now and then.

But most of the time, sleeping outside in warm rain is awesome until the mosquitos come out. Then it's run run run!

The sunny sleep ofcourse is the best, with the exeption of cool morning sleep. like the morning where you know it,s gonna be hot in the day, and it, already 17 degrees at 06:00, not humid and light breeze blowing when you sleep in the rocking couch. or old net
