Pretty exciting stuff!

I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

A teaser of the first full map done will be showed at the end of the year 2021 to show the stuff in game.

So do you guys plan to do some recreating of the original maps or will the new maps be from scratch/based on your own concepts etc?

Maps will be the same (from hexen and hexdd iwads) without any changes

It's a nice thing to see a mod for non-vanilla source ports that aren't for the Z-family or the Boom-compatible family. Keep it up!

Love very much that project =) Excellent work

thanks, very appreciated

Additional news:

We started to maintain additional version of ELV, designed for GZDoom. Here is the teaser:

https://twitter.com/ELV_project/status/1586725648021786624
https://youtu.be/qEhkRXk1a5E

Model format - MD3

GZDoom version license will allow modders any modifications or reuse in their own mods. Here is the quote from Daxx about this:

Quote

Hexen ELV 3D is a Modding Project by Emmanuel Frechou (Project Leader) which will be available in GZDoom and the Doomsday Engine, created by a Team of capable Developers such as Grigory (3D Designer/Modeller), Veirdo (VFX Artist/3D Modeller/Coder) in the Doomsday Engine and DaXx (me) (3D Modeller, VFX Artist, Coder, Level Designer) in GZDoom.

The Project features a complete 3D Overhaul of the Original Game Hexen Beyond Heretic including:
- Static Decorational 3D Objects
- Animated Decorational 3D Objects
- Monster 3D Models
- New Visual Effects
- A complete set of new HD Textures for Floors and Walls

In GZDoom the Mod is friendly to use with other Mods as long as they don't replace any of the newly imported ELV3D Assets.
When finished, the Mod will be fully accessible which means alot of modding possibilities, you can modify and change things.

Restrictions:
- Unfortunately doesn't work with Custom Class mods
- Mods that replace Objects that are part of ELV3D

Information about the release date (GZDoom Version):

I'm working hard on getting ELV3D out for Hexen as fast as possible, by that I mean I'm working 24/7 on that Project, the estimated release of Hexen ELV3D is currently scheduled to the end of December 2022, on the other side you'll need to understand that I'm working alone, so possibly the current release time can differ a bit.

The current development state tho allows me to limit the release date to the end of December, if anything goes wrong, you don't need to worry, since I already troubleshoot everything while implementing it right away, this means if there are any faults with the Project, they can be fixed in a very short period of time, which my move the release date to a later time, but not too far away.

There will also be some screenshots to give a little sneak peak about what's going on.

I'm free to answer questions about the Project and it's development, for now the project will be only build up to the v1.0 status, till that point is reached there will be no requests accepted.

Dear ELV community and Hexen fans!

ELV project founders (Emmanuel, Leo and Veirdo, that’s why it’s called ELV) decided to separate Doomsday and GZDoom versions and team members entirely.

If you don’t like to read bunch of text, here is the short explanation:

The ELV project for Doomsday and GZDoom are separate projects because different people are working on them. One project is based on another, but it's a separate branch (like Risen3D – separated from Doomsday and now a different project)

“ELV Doomsday version” discord server (veirdo is here): https://discord.gg/MfnVx9neQg

“̶E̶L̶V̶ Hexen – Rebirth of Cronos for GZDoom” discord server: https://discord.gg/QS2gr2jhgv

And now – long explanation, why it’s happened and what exactly happened (for those who interested), so let’s start:

From now, Doomsday and GZDoom versions will have:

1) Separate names (“ELV” for Doomsday version, ”Hexen – Rebirth of Cronos” for GZDoom version)

2) Separate management (Emmanuel, Leo and Veirdo for Doomsday version, Emmanuel and DaXx for GZDoom version)

3) Separate discord servers: this one https://discord.gg/MfnVx9neQg for Doomsday version, and this one https://discord.gg/QS2gr2jhgv for GZDoom version

4) Separate twitter account and forum threads will be also created for GZDoom version (current threads/twitter will be used for Doomsday version only)

So, this mean, that starting from now, discussions about Doomsday version of ELV will be entirely stopped on this https://discord.gg/QS2gr2jhgv server, and moved to this https://discord.gg/MfnVx9neQg server, and even ELV logo will be removed from this https://discord.gg/QS2gr2jhgv server, because from now, GZDoom version and its servers are not related directly to ELV, and instead, will be considered as entirely different project with its own philosophy and management/development process

Both, veirdo and me, agreed to not be credited in GZDoom version, because our tasks are mainly related to Doomsday one

So, if you interested in Doomsday version, to communicate with Doomsday version devs, team, community, to be the first who knows any related news and so on, please consider to join this https://discord.gg/MfnVx9neQg server, because for now it is the only source of such kind of information.

And for those, who interested in GZDoom version, please join this https://discord.gg/QS2gr2jhgv server (if still not joined)

Veirdo is already joined Doomsday discord server and ready for answering your questions, and he will not join GZDoom server because lack of time and interest, so if you need to ask him questions in discord, consider to join this https://discord.gg/MfnVx9neQg server.

Here are the roles list for the created projects:

ELV Doomsday:

Emmanuel: project co-founder, project leader, project backer

theleo_ua: project co-founder, project support team member, decision approval peer and model/texture quality approval peer, community manager

Veirdo: project co-founder, 3D designer/modeller, vfx artist, coder, decision approval peer and model/texture quality approval peer

GrigoriyArx: 3D designer/modeller, texture artist

”Hexen – Rebirth of Cronos” for GZDoom:

Emmanuel: project co-founder, project leader, project backer

DaXx: 3D modeller, vfx artist, coder, level designer

I understand, that you confused with a lot of information and servers, and asking questions like “why so complicated, why we need separations”, but situation on the project forced us to make them, because it’s impossible (from our point of view) to develop those projects effectively without such separations

So, from now, I’m not related to GZDoom version anymore, so if you have questions about it, please ask them to Emmanuel or DaXx in respective threads/twitter (when they created, I’ll post links to them in current threads)

I’m sorry for this bunch of text, but hope it will give us a lot of benefits, and all of you will join communities of your interests!

Thank you for reading!

Brian Raffel (original painter of Serpent Staff) and Serpent Staff from ELV (I'm very happy to see something like this):

UPDATE: despite the model looks like very similar to ours https://www.artstation.com/artwork/NobJJ, they made their model from scratch (we asked them to make sure)

Is this project still ongoing? Because I was thinking of a possible animation of windows when broken, in addition to shards flying around in various directions, the actual window/windows breaking apart and falling to the ground. Maybe similar to that in Witchaven II.

The last update he posted on Youtube was 3 months ago, and this uses some very high quality models that must take a lot of time to be made, so it's probably still being worked on.
