The idea is simple as it reads: I give you a series of screenshots of maps, particularly from an editor's automap perspective (in strife palette), and you're free to guess as many maps as you want to. Each of these belong to a different wad, and the map slots were (mostly) randomly generated, so to keep things varied and interesting. While the list doesn't follow any kind of difficulty progression, I am including a hint with each screenshot, so that it's faithful to the original edition. The correct answers will be given the next weekend, more specifically on saturday 11th at, uh, some point. Good luck! 01. Spoiler Could be considered the great grandparent of all city maps 02. Spoiler This wad is by one person we all want back, but the map isn't 03. Spoiler Kind of medieval in hell, plus a fast-paced heretic midi 04. Spoiler Nobody knows what killed that archvile... oh a blue thing that shines, gimme! 09. Spoiler From the ol' days when megawads had deathmatch only portions that contained the items us single players were missing 10. Spoiler A well-known mapper's first public release, went to win a cacoward 11. Spoiler How can I describe this, other than a huge masterpiece of red bricks, flesh, and a giant mouth 12. Spoiler 21 years later a revolution materialized into a sequel, this early map is part of it 13. Spoiler Said to be a tech base that had drained and wrecked the green hills, is that why all looks so dark and magenta... 14. Spoiler One of the most brutal-bloody vanilla single maps out there 15. Spoiler A dead simple clone, in cc4-tex clothes 31 16. Spoiler "RETRES.wad" never looked so professional before in this huge fortress map 17. Spoiler The Living End meets distant pain elementals and floating cages 18. Spoiler If you jump into the chasm in this vanilla megawad's late map, there're lots of useful blur spheres for the final boss 19. Spoiler The figures might seem familiar to most people, but it's not part of an episode nor designed by Romero 20. Spoiler An old pretty map built by beavers, resembling a real place 21. Spoiler From doom's most famous "TC" deluxe edition 22. Spoiler The theme resembles a castle in the void, the map slot is a coincidence in this list... 23. Spoiler Those who played either freedoom or the original wad (or both) should know this one 24. Spoiler The title of the map is as dramatic as E4M4 25. I wanted to say 10. The Eye by mouldy, but xdarkmasterx ninja'ed me :P 21. is something from HACX quite sure, but not sure what map. BaileyTW Posted September 12, 2021 Haven't played a whole lotta wads, so a lot of these I have no clue. 1. Doom 2's Map 13, I know that arrow anywhere. 2. Scythe's Map 32, I know those 2 squares anywhere. 4. I want to say Valiant's Map 18, but I'm not sure of those. Some of it looks familiar and that plus at the top reminds me of one of the key fights. 15. Maybe Plutonia 2's map 7. 17.
