A site that makes claims that Doom is freeware and gives links to warez sites (yes, warez) is going to generate some hostility. Drop that stuff, and I'm sure everyone will approach the site with an open mind.

BTW, while the freeoldies site doesn't make some of the Doom games available for free, it does so with Plutonia. And the download site which it uses for this purpose (it appears to be based in France - I won't give the URL for obvious reasons) is most definitely a warez site. Were I minded to steal software, I could have downloaded most of the Doom games, Hexen Deathkings, Quake, Blood, a variety of pornware and god knows what else from that site.

I never said that your views are that of the runners of Doomworld, when I speak of a site, I speak of it's visitors especially when concerning forums. Simple mis-understanding.

If you read what I said, and I beleive that I am in the right here. I said that I would give you another chance. You seem to think I'm blind to the ways of the web, which I am not. I know how web-sites work and survive, do not take me for an in-experienced dope, okay?

When you were mentioning the warez site, it made it sound like you saying that my site looked like a warez site. Again a simple mis-understanding (Note: It is not obvious.).

I mainly was saying that I had nothing to do with my site being in your news. That was all I was trying to get through to you, mainly the person who asked why it was in the news.

But I would like to state that you obviously do have an ego problem. I seriously doubt you are 90% of the entire internet id Software fan base.

And on a slightly lighter note I'd just like to point out that if whomever said it, thinks this is anywhere near a serious... 'discussion', then you obviously have never spent much time at the Infoceptor.com Forums.

If you read Nightmare's post you'll see he was talking about the Doom community, NOT the entire internet id Software fan base. And no, he doesn't have an ego problem.

Read more carefully. I said the DOOM community, not the ID community. As the only two (current) Doom news sites are New Doom and Doomworld, and I know for sure that Doomworld does have at least 9x more regulars than New Doom (and that's probably an UNDER exagerration), then it's not based on ego, but fact.

If I were talking about the entire ID games community, then I'd have said that DW probably acounts for more like 0.9% of that (and that probably IS an exagerration), rather than 90% :)

Predicted lifespan for a website which repeatedly insults the majority of its potential visitors, and in fact doesn't even seem to actually want any visitors: extremely limited.

Now... Sorry, but after reading this I thought the 90% was still applying. But I'm sorry.

Doomworld is the majority of my sites potential visitors. But as you just stated, it is not.

I just alienated most of the community for my site, by 'attacking Doomworld'. Again, as you just stated this is a lie.

It's neither a lie nor wrong. The Doom community IS the majority of all the potential visitors I was talking about, because I was excluding Quakers (who makes up the vast majority of the ID games community).

Y'see, I really, really, REALLY don't think you're going to be able to drag many of them away from their beloved Planet Quake... And I believe this so much so that I wouldn't even class them as 'potential' :)

Dont be put off by some of the comments in this thread, we (community) dont really hate you. This happens every time a new doom site comes along. I remember when doomcenter came along everyone was suspicious of it, but now bigd and bloodshedder are updating here on doomworld. Way back I think there was even the same thing over doomnation. You're bound to get the same thing over your site as well at first, but if you try to be considerate and friendly I'm confident it will fade over time.

To everyone else: give the guy a chance, the site hasnt even opened yet :)

I visit around 25 sites a day, but most aren't doom so they don't count. :P
