What's a map you never get tired of playing?

I play cyber 2 shotting maps like 15cc.wad or this one https://youtu.be/jAGPqxSiDs4 almost every day, it's very relaxing. But I don't usually replay maps, apart from my own stuff (both for testing purposes and just for fun since I already know all the strats)

"The Meat Grinder" from Speed of Doom. Despite being on the easy side, it has so many memorable setpieces, elaborate secrets and a colorful, unconventional setting. In my mind, it's one of the most creative maps out there and often serves as an inspiration for when I'm making maps.

Aside from that, MAP03, 04 and 06 from Combat Shock 2 and MAP26 from SlaughterMAX also have a lot of replayability to me.

When I'm tired of playing Doom, i'm afraid no map can keep my attention since it's the game itself i'm tired off. But when I'm in the mood for Demon slaying, any great map will do. And there are so many...

Map 18 from doom 2, it most certainly gave Croteam some ideas.

Any map from E1 of Ancient Aliens.

Black Gold from Rudy 2, the first half isn't great but the second half demonstrates the frantic excitement I like about Rudy 2's weapons and enemies, the pace of play couldn't be replicated with vanilla weapons and enemies, only through the dehacked patch is such gameplay possible.

While talking about rudy 2 I might as well mention map 1, a perfect introduction to the new content introduced. 

Finally I would like to mention Go 2 it, the only official slaughter map* to be released. and while the based on punisher series, it was still hard.

 

 

*Depending on the definition of slaughter you use.

I really need to play 2002 A Doom Odyssey. Most Pcorf stuff I've played I've loved, so I don't know how I haven't gotten to 2002 yet. 

 

Hexen's hubs are great not counting the first, I also love its Map01 Winnowing Hall. Beautiful level. 

 

Scythe, Plutonia 2, and Herian 2 are all classics, awesome choices.

Combat Shock 2 is really cool. Definitely a little slaughter - like, but it's manageable enough that I can play it on UV. And I'm not very good! Thanks to Decino for showing me it exists. I will literally never get tired of Scythe. Scythe and Demonfear were the first to PWADs I took seriously enough to beat. I loved them both and actually beat them in the same weekend, thanks to the small map sizes. Both obviously have their flaws (every wad does), but I really love them.

Another Scythe lover. Seriously something about early 2000s vanilla and Boom wads really speaks to me. CC1 Map07 is another great choice. In general, I don't get tired of early TNT maps either. The very clean and nice looking, but still fun to play.

No, Episode 2 is freaking awesome. Probably the best maps in Ultimate Doom. Which is tied with Final Doom for my favorite Doom game. So they're more my favorite maps ever lol.

It's not very engaging to me, just tedious somewhat cruel. I mean, maybe a few more stimpacks, maybe a little more room to move, maybe a few more shotgun shells would make it more fun to me. I've played harder wads, so it isn't a "git gud" thing. I just really hate the combat and wish I could appreciate it. I remember quitting around Map02 a long time ago when I first tried it. As for the actual question op asked:

 

Pretty much all of Scythe, particularly Map 05 Slimy Tunnels, Map06 Pressure Point, Map08 Garden Base, Map09 Computer Storage, Map11 Sneak Peak, Map12 Walk in the Park, Map13 Subverted Base, Map14 Power Outage, and all of the final episode.

 

TNT, especially its earlier maps: Map04 Wormhole, Map06 Open Season, Map08 Metal, Map09 Stronghold, Map12 Crater (I love this map, very atmospheric and fun. It needed different music though. Something like Landing or Leela from Marathon or maybe something from Descent), Map13 Nukage Processing,  Maps27 - 32.

 

Demonfear Map03, Map05 and 06 are also really good. Honestly, like Scythe, the whole wad goes on this list. 

 

Really lots of levels from Doom, Doom 2, and Plutonia, lots of levels in all four of the Comminity Chest wads, pretty much any early Alien Vendetta maps, all of Ancient Aliens, etc.

For me it's gotta be Eviternity's Map32, Anagoriasis (sp?). Massive, epic, many different paths/approaches, great MIDI... just hits the sweet spot for me for a hefty single playthrough

To be honest, I can't decide between maps or WADs. I mean, all of them are fun to play but if I'll have to choose one, I would choose E2M2 because punching those demons never gets old

I also agree that replayability doesn't get talked about enough, in my opinion, it is more important than something being memorable.

Oblige. (computer generated wad creator)

Levels are averagely pretty good but every now and then you get gold or garbage. Great for a 20min Doom time out or testing a new mod or HUD.
