DoomTheRobot Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) DOWNLOAD /idgames Doomshack DESCRIPTION Jonathan's Arcade Mapping Project #1: No HOM November is a collaborative Doom 2 mapping project created by me and various members of Jonathan's Arcade, my Discord. All maps were created in the month of November (also an unexpected extra week and a half to fix bugs) with the only limitation being Boom format maps only and reaching the goal of seven maps. We also included OTEX & our own custom textures, new spritework, sounds, and music. Authors in this project range from mostly new mappers to experienced mappers. Text file includes author comments and details about each level included. The difficulty starts off pretty easy but it can get a bit tough towards the end. Should work fine in Co-op but there's probably a couple softlocks in some places we didn't account for. NaN: Made all the cool new graphics/sprites stuff and singlehandedly saving the wad from not reaching it's goal when others dropped out. And a huge thank you from me to everyone involved, this was such a fun project to work on overall despite some shortcomings, (being that's it's the first project I've hosted ever) seeing everything come together in place is just awesome. Tunasz Posted December 10, 2021 I played through it within 2 days. I played it with zandronum, modless at the start. Than played it with supercharged in gzdoom. Overall liked it. I liked the first map's look and music. The game play was good too. In some areas I would say it could had use like 3-4 more monsters, so I am not running through too many empty areas, other than that I really liked it. Beaten it saveless first try. Map 2 I didn't liked the music as much. The map looked interesting. Over all I would say this is a good map. Spoiler The first part of the map is only good if you find the ssg secret. If you don't then get ready to start shotgunning about 8 hell knights... The fight where you get an invul is not hard at all, you only need to stand at the entrance, and just shoot the imps as they come. Didn't even needed the invul there. The hell knights and revs you can just make them infight with the fatsos. The revs when you lower the entrance seal those can give you a small trouble, because of the terrain, but they are not too bad. Behind the blue door fight where you can get the bfg is tough. First focus on the revs with ether rockets or the bfg, and than just bfg down stuff so you have space to run around, and you can take cover in the small room where the bfg is. When the archies come kill them as soon as possible than the fight is basically won. Last fight wasn't that hard, just use the bfg and the cacos will fall. Beaten it saveless 4th try pistol start. 1st death: killed by a chain gunner. 2nd: the bfg arena killed me, because I didn't know that you can get a bfg here. 3rd: I got suprised by the archies in the bfg area and I was inside the room where the barons and pinkies come out, so archies got me there. Map 3 I liked the music. I didn't liked this map tho. It was a confusing map where you had to hunt down the weapons... I finished this one with supercharged, and did saved. Spoiler Beaten it about 12th try I didn't wrote all down. 1st death: I believe caused by a chaingunner. 2nd: I was trying to explore and got cornered by a spectre and rev. 3rd: caught some fatso fireballs. 4th: I got cornered again. 5th: 80 dmg rev missiles... 6th: revs still found 0 guns. 7th: Died by a sniping zombieman LUL. I finally found the rocket launcher here and saw an ssg. 8th: blue key trap archviles got me. The rest happened when I started saving and I switched to supercharged, I died about 3-4 times there. Map 4 I liked the music. I really liked the concept of the map. I think this is the best map of the wad. The first room's inescapable pit should deal 20 damage, not 5, it takes too long to kill you, but the joke was really funny there :D Beaten it Second try saveless. First try I ended up in the pit. And died :D . Map 5 I liked the music. I really liked that jeep. The map looked cool as well. For a blind map it's hard, for a non blind it wasn't that bad. Finished it within 4 tries, saveless. 1st death: got surprised by the hell knight and than I didn't had enough hp to survive the onslaught. 2nd: When I grabbed the yellow key I died by the fatso. 3rd: I rushed the first area so I got overwhelmed. Over all a good map, and a bit challenging. Map 6-7 They are both slaughter maps, I don't like them. I tried to beat map 6, got to the too many zombies library and I didn't liked the almost infinite tide of zombies. So a left it there. I died like 5 times by the first room, than got consistent in that one. 6th time died by the zombie army. 7th started saving and using superchaged, died 6 times. 4 times by a rev, and once got sandwiched. 6th died where I get the rocket launcher. Than I tried the zombie tied a few times and got bored of it. Map 7 I died a few times noticed that this is yet an other slaughter map, So i just gave up on it. TLDR: Fav map: map 4 good concept. I really liked map 1 as well. Liked map 2, 5. I didn't liked map 3, because the gun hunting. I didn't liked map 6-7, because they are slaughter maps. 0 Share this post Link to post
