Well I don't think it's true since :

Site says :
Vous ne pouvez nous blâmer toutes les choses stupides qui risquent d'arriver à votre Pc (mais pas mal d'entre elles).

Toutes les choses que vous pouvez lire et voir sur Internet ne sont pas forcément bonnes pour votre PC.

Pour nos visiteurs américains : DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

Why would they say to americans to not try this ? I believe it's because they don't speak French (or not much) and if they start doing it and scraps their HD, I don't think they would be pretty happy. That's why they put the warning. And they say not to trust everything that we see on the internet, so I doubt that it's true.

Uh, its completely 100% untrue (for those who may be wondering). First off, defragmenting means aligning the data on the harddrive contiguosly. Second, unlesss im mistaken, exposing the HD disks would ruin them permanently.

Magnets + Computers = Death. (equations, the only way to answer)

finger prints are really hard to get off a hard drive disc. I took apart an old one from 1987 or something. it was hard without the proper screwdriver (read: butterknife).
I would imagine some stupid people actually have tried to do this.. maybe..

That is definitively positively undeniably retarded.

I second that, fiddling with the insides of the HDD would void the warrenty wouldn't it?

if u try this u are stupid!
1 opening a hard drive kills it automaticly.
2 touching a platter would totaly kill it. the heads are so close to the platter that even the grease from finger tips gets in the way.
3 a magnet would wipe it clean.

4 this is a joke site, duh

I dont know about defrag, but my dad can and has 'scandisked' hard drives in the past, rebuilding filesystems by hand with a hexeditor.
