Julian Posted January 21, 2003 If you know french: http://www.waithai.com/datadoctor/defrag1.htm If you don't, how about a silly automatic translation: http://216.239.39.120/translate_c?hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&langpair=fr%7Cen&u=http://www.waithai.com/datadoctor/defrag1.htm&prev=/language_tools 0 Share this post Link to post

Pour nos visiteurs américains : DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! Why would they say to americans to not try this ? I believe it's because they don't speak French (or not much) and if they start doing it and scraps their HD, I don't think they would be pretty happy. That's why they put the warning. And they say not to trust everything that we see on the internet, so I doubt that it's true. 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted January 21, 2003 Uh, its completely 100% untrue (for those who may be wondering). First off, defragmenting means aligning the data on the harddrive contiguosly. Second, unlesss im mistaken, exposing the HD disks would ruin them permanently. 0 Share this post Link to post

Bloodshedder Posted January 21, 2003 That is definitively positively undeniably retarded. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chopkinsca Posted January 21, 2003 finger prints are really hard to get off a hard drive disc. I took apart an old one from 1987 or something. it was hard without the proper screwdriver (read: butterknife). I would imagine some stupid people actually have tried to do this.. maybe.. 0 Share this post Link to post

Sephiroth Posted January 22, 2003 if u try this u are stupid! 1 opening a hard drive kills it automaticly. 2 touching a platter would totaly kill it. the heads are so close to the platter that even the grease from finger tips gets in the way. 3 a magnet would wipe it clean. 4 this is a joke site, duh 0 Share this post Link to post

fraggle Posted January 24, 2003 I dont know about defrag, but my dad can and has 'scandisked' hard drives in the past, rebuilding filesystems by hand with a hexeditor. 0 Share this post Link to post
