YeOldeFellerNoob Posted February 6, 2022 Like the title says, what WADS would you think you would see in the bargain bin? 1 Share this post Link to post
Dusty_Rhodes Posted February 6, 2022 Honestly, I feel even the worst remembered community wads are still a cut above shovelware. The wads everyone knows and most people complain about seem to be Hell Revealed Memento Mori 1, and Community Chest. These wads definitely have problems but I think the technical skills and overall design is too good to be in the bargain bin. So I don't feel any wad in particular fits, maybe something like the Maximum Doom. My predictions for this thread is that it will devolve into an Eternal Doom hate topic lol. 7 Share this post Link to post

DarkIceCyclone Posted February 6, 2022 Anything by me, considering wallmart or rather, maxima in my country has very interesting quality control...like.... a couple of fines a month quality control 1 Share this post Link to post
xdude_gamer Posted February 6, 2022 Ribbiks' "Whisky" The texturing and stuff just gives me a "Maximum Doom but better" thing for some reason. 1 Share this post Link to post
GraphicBleeder Posted February 6, 2022 Alot of those levels on those Doom shovelware CDs. Especially considering they probably were in Walmart bargain bins. 3 Share this post Link to post

I meant what WADs that are classics that they could be put in the bin (as Walmart does do that) or WADs that are meh that no one but a few heard about, hidden gem or not. 2 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted February 6, 2022 I think if anyone were silly enough to try such a thing in modern day, they'd google "Top Doom WADs" and just download as many as they could to press onto discs. So really anything, probably a lot of Cacoward winners, etc. 3 Share this post Link to post

I wouldn't worry, I get the feeling you wanted to do a fun thought experiment, and I'm all for that :^) 4 Share this post Link to post
Pechudin Posted February 6, 2022 I feel we are blessed by so many fine wads today that a lot of "pretty good, competent but unremarkable" stuff could (unfortunately) get in there. 3 Share this post Link to post
Dark Pulse Posted February 6, 2022 I am very confused by why people are naming actual good WADs when the whole point of the Walmart Bargain Bin is "This is rubbish that hasn't sold so we're practically giving it away, please take it." 4 Share this post Link to post
act Posted February 7, 2022 Mine. I'd say 100% my WADs are fit for the Walmart Bargain Bin. 1 Share this post Link to post

gwain Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) all of the fake tear wads in a mega pack collection for a cheap price of 3.25 with the tagline you don't know if one could be real 1 Share this post Link to post

Klaesick Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) I guess a lot of Gene Bird maps could end up in there. 0 Share this post Link to post

Every map has a reason to exist and is cherished as so. Even things like wow.wad serve as a pseudo-cultural milestone and as a relic of days gone. Quote I guess a lot of Gene Bird maps could end up in there. I actually don't mind most of his maps. At worst, I find them inoffensive. At best, they're a neat time capsule into the mapping philosophy from the Community Chest days. 3 Share this post Link to post
