Which WADS would you think would be in a Walmart Bargain Bin?

Recommended Posts

Honestly, I feel even the worst remembered community wads are still a cut above shovelware. The wads everyone knows and most people complain about seem to be Hell Revealed Memento Mori 1, and Community Chest. These wads definitely have problems but I think the technical skills and overall design is too good to be in the bargain bin. So I don't feel any wad in particular fits, maybe something like the Maximum Doom.

My predictions for this thread is that it will devolve into an Eternal Doom hate topic lol.

Alot of those levels on those Doom shovelware CDs. Especially considering they probably were in Walmart bargain bins.

Yeah I was worried about that. I meant what WADs that are classics that they could be put in the bin (as Walmart does do that) or WADs that are meh that no one but a few heard about, hidden gem or not.

I think if anyone were silly enough to try such a thing in modern day, they'd google "Top Doom WADs" and just download as many as they could to press onto discs.

So really anything, probably a lot of Cacoward winners, etc.

I wouldn't worry, I get the feeling you wanted to do a fun thought experiment, and I'm all for that :^)

I feel we are blessed by so many fine wads today that a lot of "pretty good, competent but unremarkable" stuff could (unfortunately) get in there.

I am very confused by why people are naming actual good WADs when the whole point of the Walmart Bargain Bin is "This is rubbish that hasn't sold so we're practically giving it away, please take it."

How about Plutonia 3: Going To Surface?

This actually goes behind the counter in the locked case you have to ask specifically to get.

What do I look like, someone who does that? :^)

You can find all of my wads in the CD-ROM bin at your local RadioShack or Circuit City!

Someone please lock this thread already. We have enough flame wars as is.

Why? It's all in good fun. Every map has a reason to exist and is cherished as so. Even things like wow.wad serve as a pseudo-cultural milestone and as a relic of days gone.

I guess a lot of Gene Bird maps could end up in there.

I actually don't mind most of his maps. At worst, I find them inoffensive. At best, they're a neat time capsule into the mapping philosophy from the Community Chest days.

It's just a bit of fun, that's all.
