DOOM2 v1.666 grey floppy disks

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I bought these grey Doom2 floppy disks on ebay, tested them with an external floppy drive and dosbox and found that work. They have version 1.666 on them, has anyone else come across these before?

Just wondering as I have not seen these before.

They look legitimate, the labels match exactly with other official releases of 1.666 on floppy. Grey is slightly less common than black ones, but probably only worth half-decent money to a crazy collector of Doom curios.

It’s worth noting Doom and Doom 2 were distributed in quite a number of ways internationally, some of which seemed to be only “kinda sorta mostly” legal, but even in US releases there’s quite a bit of variance among certain pressings of certain Doom versions.

Something to hold onto, regardless!

At the very least, a piece of history!

Awesome. Never got to play doom from a floppy disk, or use a DOS machine. Still, good to see they work, you might as well conserve them as best you can ;-)

Thank you for your reply Doomkid, I'm definitley going to keep hold of these as I've been after Doom Floppys for a bit. Find it cool to finally play Doom2 with these.

P.S. your youtube videos are awesome!
