Known lost WADs of our history?

Dfear6.wad (Dfear6.zip) by Adam Windsor

 

Demonfear, Adam Windsor's 32-level megawad, was originally released in 6 parts, Dfear1.zip to Dfear6.zip. If, somehow, parts 1 to 5 are available via an archived page of gamers.org, on some CDs (this one for example) and on doomshack.org (uploaded if I'm not mistaken by @Diabolución), the sixth and final part, Dfear6.zip, seems to have disappeared into thin air and can't be found anywhere.

According to a 1999 Linguica post , Dfear6.zip was available on this site, before being replaced by the single wad version. (Unfortunately wayback machine didn't save any pages before 2001).

It would be nice to play the megawad as it was originally intended by his author

I do not.  However, the compiled version is different from the original dfears only in that it has a couple of bug fixes.  Playing the maps in dfear6.wad would not be any different to playing those in dmonfear.wad,  Quite likely identical; as far as I recall the bug fixes I did were all for maps from dfear1-5.

Chambers Of Dis by the frontman for Morbid Angel. I know it contained the map, but also a copy of the Doom2 Iwad.

Oh damn I never knew about this. Awesome as hell. The .txt feels like a 90s kid showing off his map haha

Anyway, Hi-Tech Hell 1 never happened.

 

Hellstorm: Dark Ascension was one of these very ambitious partial conversions from the late nineties. The Doom source code was opened, and so it was possible to make mods that included a new executable with more stuff in it! More monsters, more weapons, more effects... Of all such projects, only Caverns of Darkness saw the light of day. What happened instead was a decoupling of engines and mod projects, with some engines (ZDoom, EDGE, Legacy, etc.) moving ahead with more and more editing features and mod projects getting built around an existing port. That was a much more future-proof solution, so it's for the best. Anyway, if I bring up Hellstorm, it's because of its historical importance: just go take a look at its bestiary. Notice anything familiar? Yes, this was the debut of Amuscaria's spriting career. Those sprite edits ended up getting included in the Demon Eclipse resource files, even if left unused (a secret Hellstorm-themed level was planned as an Easter egg); and from there they'd find their way to other ZDoom projects. Some of them, like the nightmare and archon even got fancy redesigns at some point.

 

I wonder what ZDoom projects are they talking about, I want to see a list of some them.

Is that supposed to be Duke Nukem ? This reminds me of the early 3d GZdoom models.

This image here , IMO, looks like it would've been Lawnmower Man-quality 3D models jammed into the GZDoom and Zandronum engines..

This would give a huge incite on which maps did make it into the final version of Plutonia 2 and which maps got cut during development.

I haven't seen it mentionned on this topic but while searching for early Boom mapsets I found The Parallel Dimension from the Parallel Team whose website is still hosted by Doomworld here https://www.doomworld.com/parallel/

 

In there I learned that the team was working on a sequel called Extinction which Chapter I was expected to be out on September 2002 but seemingly never got released since then.

 

I wonder what that project became.

I remember a Doom wad that included Quake's enemy roster (Obviously in sprite form) from years back. I've searched for ages trying to find it, but no luck.

This thread is meant to be used as a memorial for WADs that we have proof are not available for download any more, aka lost media.

 

If you are not sure about the status of the WAD, better use the "looking for a WAD thread" before posting here.

Any of the projects by The Videogame Cemetery, which are as follows:

 

Killing Joke Game - a WAD about clowns similar to Happy Time Circus 1 & 2

 

Darkness of the Daleks - a Doctor Who themed total conversion focusing on the Daleks

 

Horrifying: Resurrection of the Dormant - a horror-themed WAD

 

Untitled Tamagotchi WAD - an unnamed WAD based on the Tamagotchi virtual pet franchise

 

Doom: Annihilation - a PSX-styled WAD with original levels planned for GZDoom. Not to be confused with the 2019 Direct-To-Video movie of the same name.

 

Cries of Doom - a PSX-styled WAD with original levels planned for GZDoom.

 

Perhaps VGCtm is still working on these but for now, they are extremely WIP.

Possibly this was some old version of "Aeons of Death" from back in the day. I'm not sure whether it included the full roster, but it definitely included some of them, along with defined behavior -- the Rottweiler, Zombie, Death Knight and Shambler at least.

 

I may even have this build on my old hard drives somewhere -- will edit this post if I find it.

They were a download link, but were hosted in sendspace (good in the old days, but crappy nowadays)

I'm sure our back-ups masters @VVL or @Mad Butcher have a copy of this
