Favorite shooter after 2000?

So we've already covered pre-2000 shooters in the other thread, but what are your favorite shooters post-2000?

I wish I could put UT2004 here (personally I spent thousands of hours in that game), but I hated how it (and 2003) absolutely borked the weapon balance. Conversely, I wish I could put UT3 here, but everybody hated Gamespy and avoided that like the plague.

 

I could mention Borderlands, and I had fun playing those, but they're at most a couple hundred hour experiences...

 

But I had a blast with this. Shame it died. Spoilered since I put up four videos of it. Two of which are of a match that was streamed by the devs themselves during the closed beta of the game (which I was a participant in), two of which are of my actual playing (I don't miss the days of running FRAPS while playing a game, let me tell you).

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl for me probably. Honorable mentions: Half Life 2, DUSK, FEAR, Resident Evil 7 (if that counts), The Metro games.

Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach (gee, winder if there's a pattern ;p), Call of Duty 4 (the best CoD, and it's not even close), Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, Hrot (found it before Civvie covered it, I love it and it's really cool watching it be expanded and changed and improved), Half Life 2 and its excellent episodes (though I prefer the first game and its expansions, yes, even Blue Shift), Counter Strike Source and Global Operations, Team Fortress 2, and Quake 4.

NOLF (2000) (amazingly creative maps, good story, and fun weapons plus the game was fun to deathmatch)

FEAR (2005) (for a while there I was a serious Monolith fan and the combat in this was so good)

Sniper Elite 3 + 4 (love the gameplay and multiple ways to play each scenario.   Wish there was an editor for these).

No, sprint ruined cod by a long shot, at least for me.

I really liked how hard cod2 was even on the lower difficulties.  The game wasn't realistic by far, but no game has given me a rush like the battle for hill 400 or counter sniper.  Making it to the end of hill 400 was the most satisfying achievement when I played it 6 years ago.

That's perfectly valid, Call of Duty 2 is a great game, but I prefer the gunplay in 4. I also love the story and the multiplauer game modes and maps. But yeah, Hill 400 is one of the coolest set pieces in that game.
