Mr. Freeze Posted March 23, 2022 So we've already covered pre-2000 shooters in the other thread, but what are your favorite shooters post-2000? inb4 Doom Eternal I'm probably gonna just nominate COD4 although there's like 10 titles that could take the spot. 8 Share this post Link to post
Dark Pulse Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) I wish I could put UT2004 here (personally I spent thousands of hours in that game), but I hated how it (and 2003) absolutely borked the weapon balance. Conversely, I wish I could put UT3 here, but everybody hated Gamespy and avoided that like the plague. I could mention Borderlands, and I had fun playing those, but they're at most a couple hundred hour experiences... But I had a blast with this. Shame it died. Spoilered since I put up four videos of it. Two of which are of a match that was streamed by the devs themselves during the closed beta of the game (which I was a participant in), two of which are of my actual playing (I don't miss the days of running FRAPS while playing a game, let me tell you). Spoiler Fun fact: Kaiser (yes, that Kaiser) worked on this game (as well as its prequel, which I also loved). 0 Share this post Link to post
whybmonotacrab Posted March 23, 2022 STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl for me probably. Honorable mentions: Half Life 2, DUSK, FEAR, Resident Evil 7 (if that counts), The Metro games. 4 Share this post Link to post
Dusty_Rhodes Posted March 23, 2022 Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach (gee, winder if there's a pattern ;p), Call of Duty 4 (the best CoD, and it's not even close), Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, Hrot (found it before Civvie covered it, I love it and it's really cool watching it be expanded and changed and improved), Half Life 2 and its excellent episodes (though I prefer the first game and its expansions, yes, even Blue Shift), Counter Strike Source and Global Operations, Team Fortress 2, and Quake 4. 4 Share this post Link to post
xX_Lol6_Xx Posted March 23, 2022 Of all the shooters I've played, maybe L4D1 (You read right, the Original, not it's sequel), CS GO, TF 2, Hrot's demo (I'll buy the full version soon), and while not my favorite, COD Black Ops 2 and 3. 1 Share this post Link to post
Roebloz Posted March 23, 2022 Team Fortress 2. Controversial, but I'm gonna say better than Doom. 4 Share this post Link to post

ApprihensivSoul Posted March 23, 2022 FEAR 1 or 2, Halo 2 or Reach, Bioshock Infinite (the only pure Shooter in the series,) Doom 2016, Shadow Warrior. 0 Share this post Link to post
heliumlamb Posted March 23, 2022 i cannot pick one from that 22 year period, i will have to settle between painkiller, devil daggers, cruelty squad, E.Y.E divine cybermancy and h-halo t-two. all are exquisite in their own ways. 0 Share this post Link to post
joepallai Posted March 23, 2022 NOLF (2000) (amazingly creative maps, good story, and fun weapons plus the game was fun to deathmatch) FEAR (2005) (for a while there I was a serious Monolith fan and the combat in this was so good) Sniper Elite 3 + 4 (love the gameplay and multiple ways to play each scenario. Wish there was an editor for these). 4 Share this post Link to post
Arrowhead Posted March 23, 2022 Gonna have to be 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' for me, I played the hell out of that game - same w/ Quake 4... 4 Share this post Link to post

Halo CE and AVP:Classic is the only game on here besides HL:BS and the Serious Sam Duology that I didn't play until more recently. ===================================================== Bonus 2010's Era. 1. DOOM3: BFG Edition (2012) 2. Insurgency (2014) 3. Fallout: New Vegas (2010) (I don't consider Fallout NV as an RPG) 4. Postal Redux (2016) 5. Serious Sam 3: BFE (2011) 6. Day of Defeat: Source (2010) 7. DOOM (2016) (Basic bitch answer I know) 8. Call Of Duty: Black Ops (2010) That's all folks! 2 Share this post Link to post
Antroid Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) 1. Doom 3 2. Serious Sams (all of em, fuck it) 3. AvP 2 (if 1 qualifies, that too) 4. Stalker SoC 5. Half-life 2 6. RtCW 7. Wolfesntein The New Order (aka the last Wolfenstein game that really exists) 10. maaaaaaaaaybe Painkiller with the first expansion. 11. I actually kinda liked Unreal 2........ Definitely forgetting something, feels like I've played more shooters over the years... Even forgetting the pre-2000 ones like dooms, quake1, h-l, turoks, etc I guess the dusk-ion fury-amid evil gang should also get a mention, Ion Fury being a personal favorite. Jello Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) This is kind of a badly formed question. The previous topic was more "shooters between 1990 and 2000", this one is spanning over twenty years. So I'll just do my top ten. In my absolutely biased opinion these are the shooters that really stand out to me over the last 20 years. 1. Soldier of Fortune 2 2. Postal 2 3. Serious Sam: FE and SE 4. STALKER: Call of Pripyat, and Shadow of Chernobyl 5. Dusk 6. Time Splitters: Future Perfect 7. Fallout: New Vegas 8. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger 9. Far Cry 2 10. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth 1 Share this post Link to post
Astronomical Posted March 23, 2022 10 hours ago, Dusty_Rhodes said: Call of Duty 4 (the best CoD, and it's not even close) No, sprint ruined cod by a long shot, at least for me. I really liked how hard cod2 was even on the lower difficulties. The game wasn't realistic by far, but no game has given me a rush like the battle for hill 400 or counter sniper. Making it to the end of hill 400 was the most satisfying achievement when I played it 6 years ago. 1 Share this post Link to post

I also love the story and the multiplauer game modes and maps. But yeah, Hill 400 is one of the coolest set pieces in that game. 1 Share this post Link to post

DuckReconMajor Posted March 23, 2022 Also agree with CoD4 but I didn't play that one until years after it came out. I have much more nostalgic connection to MW2-3 and the first two Black Ops as I was playing online then. But still have to give it to CoD4 1 Share this post Link to post

MemeMind Posted March 23, 2022 Halo series in general. ( I like 4, I can play 5 just for multiplayer) Black Ops 3 Zombies (The multiplayer and campaign suck like most post bo2 cods. Also the mods for bo3 zombies are awesome) Literally everything Arkane as put out ( I am a severely addicted to Arkane) Half-Life 2 and Episodes Nu Wolf Series (Minus Youngblood of course) Nu Doom Titanfall 2 Other than some games that I play on and off, these are the ones that I return to the most. 0 Share this post Link to post
