25th Anniversary Map Jam Demo (Doom 64 Remaster / EX 1.1)

To honor the 25th anniversary of Doom 64, we have released a demo of the Doom 64 25th Anniversary Map Jam with 7 brand new maps compatible with the official Doom 64 Release AND Doom 64 EX! The eventual final release will more than double the number of maps.

Happy Birthday Doom 64! This is a demo of the 25th anniversary Doom 64 map jam, with a selection of maps for your enjoyment or perhaps suffering! This final release will feature at least twice as many maps from even more mappers. For instructions on how to run WADs read the final two sections of this README.

DOOM 64 EX INSTRUCTIONS (https://doom64ex.wordpress.com/downloads/)

1) Use the “EX” version of the WAD
- Linux Port setup: http://www.gamersonlinux.com/forum/threads/doom-64-guide.2140/

2) Download and unzip the Doom 64 EX binaries
- The SDL patch (and mouse acceleration adjustment) can fix mouse issues on newer Windows

3) Here are four ways to run custom WAD files in Doom 64 EX

a)  Dragging and Dropping
- Move the WAD to the directory with “DOOM64.EXE”
- Drag and drop the WAD on “DOOM64.EXE”

b) Using ZDL (useful for loading multiple WADs)
- Download ZDL from one of the links provided here: https://zdoom.org/wiki/ZDL
- In the Source ports section of the "General settings" tab, use the Add items (+) button to add DOOM64.EXE from the Doom 64 EX location as a source port.
- In the IWADs section of the "General settings" tab, use the Add items (+) button to add DOOM64.wad from the Doom 64 EX location as an IWAD.
- In the "Launch config" tab, either drag and drop the custom WAD in the "External files" section or use the Add items (+) button to add it.
- Then in the "Source port" section select the source port you added previously, and also in the "IWADs" section select the recently added IWAD too.
- Click on the "Launch" button to run the custom WAD.
            
c) Via the Command Prompt
- Press the Windows key + R and then run "cmd".
- Navigate to your Doom 64 EX folder by using the cd command.
- Type "DOOM64.exe -file "C:\wadlocation\wad.wad"", where C:\wadlocation\wad.wad is the location and file name of the custom WAD.
- This will load the custom WAD

d) Use the Doom 64 EX Launcher
- In the Doom 64 EX directory, open “Launcher.exe”
- In the “Other Parameters” field type: -file "C:\wadlocation\wad.wad"", where C:\wadlocation\wad.wad is the location and file name of the custom WAD.
- Click on “Launch” and this will load the custom WAD

2) Find your Doom 64 directory.
- A common location is here "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Doom 64\"

3) Here are four ways to run custom WAD files in the Steam Doom 64 Remaster

a) From Steam's launch options
- Open the desktop version of Steam and go to the "Library" section
- Right-click on DOOM 64 and go to "Properties..." and go to the "General" section.
- In the "Launch Options" field add "-file "C:\wadlocation\wad.wad"", where C:\wadlocation\wad.wad is the location and file name of the custom WAD.
- When you run DOOM 64 from Steam it will automatically load the custom WAD now.    

b) Using ZDL (useful for loading multiple WADs)
- Download ZDL from one of the links provided here: https://zdoom.org/wiki/ZDL
- In the Source ports section of the "General settings" tab, use the Add items (+) button to add DOOM64_x64.exe from the Doom 64 location as a source port.
- In the IWADs section of the "General settings" tab, use the Add items (+) button to add DOOM64.wad from the Doom 64 location as an IWAD.
- In the "Launch config" tab, either drag and drop the custom WAD in the "External files" section or use the Add items (+) button to add it.
- Then in the "Source port" section select the source port you added previously, and also in the "IWADs" section select the recently added IWAD too.
- Click on the "Launch" button to run the custom WAD.
            
c) Via the Command Prompt

d) With a shortcut
- Press the Windows key + E to open Windows Explorer and navigate to your Doom 64 directory
- Right-click and drag the Doom 64 executable file to another location (ideally your desktop) and select "Create shortcut here"
- Right-click on that shortcut and go to "Properties".
- On the line that says Target, after the exe location add "-file "C:\wadlocation\wad.wad"", where C:\wadlocation\wad.wad is the location and file name of the custom WAD.
- Here is an example of how it could read: "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Doom 64\DOOM64_x64.exe" -file "C:\wadlocation\wad.wad"
- Double-click the shortcut to run the custom WAD.
                    
4) Steam may show a "Allow game launch?" prompt
- Click "ok" to load the game with the custom WAD

You and @Jetx_121 did a lot of hard work debugging this! I learned a lot on testing for compatibility. That is not just using DB64 analysis mode, but also looking at the console warnings when the map is being loaded too.

Version 1.1 is out! This adjusts Putrid Palace to prevent a skip and add some minor balancing.

Skips have been identified in Override which can cause problems in progression. These will be fixed in a future version!
