Downloading from GOG/Steam

Hey all

I downloaded Classic Doom from Steam, and all it gave me was a .exe

I want the .wad of course, so I was looking into other options to get it and found out about gog

But if I buy and download from gog, will it give me the .wad or .exe?

yeah it will give you the wad file

The steam version also give you the .wad file, you need to look in the original base forlder.

That's the Steam version, as include boths games releases. The Classic Dos-Box and the Unity Wrapper.

i dont know they release the steam version i thought it was only in bethesda.net

The wad files for Steam are contained in the base and rerelease folders of the games install directory. You'll want the one in base.

 

edit: Agh, that wasn't meant to be a double post.

All of the WADs will be in the steam download. Search your drive for *.WAD and you will find them. Will find the directory in the morning if you do not have it by then. Typically something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

Then look at the doom folders.

 

No need to download again from GOG.

GOG also just gives you an EXE. It is called an installer :-)

If everything else fails, smash that F3 Button on your keyboard

and let your PC search for *.wad on all your HDDs/SDDs.
