The developer repeatedly mentioned in interviews (https://venturebeat.com/2013/12/11/after-20-years-doom-co-creator-john-romero-looks-back-on-the-impact-of-a-seminal-game-interview/) that he suffers from hyperthymesia, that is, the ability to remember the smallest details of his own life - this became a great help in writing an autobiography.

In his memoirs, Romero will talk, among other things, about his difficult childhood, about how he tried his hand at programming and sent his own code to specialized magazines, as well as about his career - from the founding of id Software and the subsequent conflict with colleague John Carmack to the present.".

Cool, this should be an interesting read. Don't know if I'll pre-order, but I'll definitely put this on my watchlist. Hopefully there'll be an e-book option available should physical copies sell out before I have a chance to get one.

Definitely looking forward to this, from interviews he seems to have an interesting perspective on things, and hopefully there's some good behind the scenes stories and/or insight into the games' development.

I hardly ever read anything, but I think this one's going on the list.

I hope he's not gonna finish the story with quake. I mean sure, daikatana wasn't the success story he hoped but life went on. It is an important story, and there's plenty interesting stories after it. It's not likely anything will surpass doom but it's not the only good thing he did. Dude has a rich life that has a lot to teach.
