I don't think I'll do it anytime soon because I got a bunch of projects and I even have an idea for my own chaotic community project, but fine. Give me a slot.

bossaction = PainElemental, 112, 1337 

to my map's slot in UMAPINFO

I just realised that for bossactions to work, a BossDeath action needs to be included in each monsters death sequence (doesn't matter on what frame it is). Since you're going to make a custom dehacked file anyway, could you also add a BossDeath action to Death and XDeath of every single enemy?

XD Honestly I mean like... Enemies... I've already built the start and its really hard...and there is only 16 enemies XD

Mancubus and Cacodemons are even worse, trust me. They are pretty much large arena monsters, and of all the ideas I had I ended up stuck with a base one anyway xd Although it's more of the kind of "run from base, clear everything, then go back in or to the exit"

While that may be true I'm talking like I'm gonna make traps that have Chaingunners in hiding places shooting at you while Hell knights are distracting you,  in my first room its like "Trigger the Hell knights and you are doomed"

No you get a Pump Action Shotgun at the beginning, infact for the beginning you have to be a stealth otherwise the Chaingunners will kill you, aka you need to peek out from the vent you come from to kill the Chaingunners otherwise you die.

ever since i saw the doom modding scene, i've always wanted to start a community project. this is my first project, i sure do hope it's successful! 

 

Hi Everyone, the 2 enemy community project is a restriction project for doom 2 where mappers are limited to 2 enemy types. The goal is a 32 level megawad with levels that are short and simple, yet challenging. I feel the 2 enemy limit will make mappers think about enemy placement and how to make combat more interesting.

 

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS

  • This CP is for the doom2 iwad
  • You can only use stock textures. Maps must be compatible with PRBoom+ Comp Level 9 , as it is our target source port. Custom Midis are allowed.
  • There can be only 2 monster types in a map
  • 500 Monster Limit
  • Pain Elementals count as one enemy type, not two. If you place lost souls by hand they'll count as a separate monster

SUBMITTING A MAP

  • You can only submit 1 map
  • Playtest your maps. I will playtest them at the end with some friends to make sure they're balanced and fun but it'll be much better for everyone involved to playtest their maps beforehand
  • The deadline is September 30th
  • All mappers are allowed, it'd be hypocritical if i didnt do that
  • Add Co-op spawns
  • To sign up, just say "@Thatonespymain i'm in, my two monsters are [Insert your two monsters]". each two monster pair has a maximum of three maps to them, for example you cant use the Revenant Chaingunner pair because it has been used 3 times (MAP 04, MAP 09 and MAP 21)

GUIDELINES AND OTHER STUFF

The one map constriction is there so that one guy cant do half the megawad, i don't know what guy would do that but better safe then sorry. You can map in any style just please keep it relatively short. If you make a slaughter map dont make it scythe 2 level of difficulty, If you make a puzzle map make it so that it can be completed without searching up a walkthrough and if you make an adventure map dont make it a twisty, confusing mess. 

 

Try to pick your 2 monsters wisely, because once you lock in you can not switch at all. The three map monster pair rule is too avoid a whole megawad of Archviles and Revenants, this will force mappers to think of interesting ways to use each enemy in the doom 2 roster to their full potential. Commander keens and barrels dont count as individual monsters, Icon of sin does count as one.

 

Regularly post your maps, I will react to the message if i have played your maps and tell you what i think of them. If your map isnt done by the deadline, tell me and i might extend it - Just because this is a rule doesnt mean you cant just not map until a day before the deadline, do not abuse this!

 

The dehacked file to test this with is 2ENEMYCOMMUNITYPROJECT.zip, it has a few small changes like adding Bossdeath to all enemies and making archviles able to resurrect other archviles!

Also thanks to everyone who joined so far, it's been wonderful seeing how many people joined. My friend told me this'll be a waste of my time because he thought no one would want to map for it but we were surprised to see the amount of people that wanted to make a map for this project. It means a lot to me that my first community project went well so far, so thank you all who joined or even read this post (You all made my day :D)

You may want to consider adding this list as a separate bullet, including those at 2 maps.

 

For instance, something like:

 

These monster pairs are now off-limits due to being used in 3 maps.

  • Chaingunner and Revenant

These monster pairs are currently being used in 2 maps.

  • Arachnotron and Mancubus
  • Cacodemon and Revenant

 

 

 

Also, @Thatonespymain, I'm in. My monster pair is Imp and Mancubus.
