Ar_e_en Posted September 25, 2023 I had a great dream last night that makes me disappointed, because it's not real: Penn and Teller (specifically the version of them when Penn was fat) released a new Western Action-Adventure Road-trip Comedy Film about both of them traveling around the American West and looking for treasure, while others try to either stop them or get the treasure before they do. The film had horse riding, car chases, a train chase, beautiful desert scenery, a group of incompetent police officers being lead by an over the top police chief (I think he was played by Malcolm McDowell), Danny Trejo had a role as a western outlaw, and probably some other things that slipped out of my mind. But here's the strange thing about the film - it was released together with a book (written by Penn and Teller) that you could only get if you bought a DVD of the film together with a six pack of "Mushroom Pizza" flavored "Pringles" (which I don't think is a thing, I know that there are "Pizza" and "Mushroom" flavored ones, but I don't think that there is a "Mushroom Pizza" one), and the book was filled with extra lore, weird rants by Penn about in universe events from the film and a lot of puzzles centered around the location of the treasure. In the dream - I watched this film in a car with one of those portable DVD players, while holding and referencing the book. I was together with some other people and we were so enthralled by the film that we drove into a ditch. Once we got out of the ditch - some scenes from the film had passed and we had to continue watching the film without being able to rewind for some reason. We continued watching, and we drove into a lake. We got out of the lake, got back onto the road, continued watching, drove off the road into a field and got lost for some time. Once we found the road again - you guessed it: got into more accidents while watching the film and driving. This is how the dream went on before I woke up. I am so sad that this isn't real :( The film and book, not the vehicular accidents! 1 Share this post Link to post
LucidNight12 Posted July 20 Last night I dreamt that I was playing on my electric guitar and all of a sudden while looking down at my guitar, I noticed the floor looked weird. When I looked back up I saw that I was suddenly teleported from my room to a laundromat. - This wasn't just a normal laundromat, it was an abandoned laundromat. With everything still inside and everything looking vintage. I then put my guitar on the floor and started walking around until I saw small drops of blood leading to a room with it's door creaked open and a small noise coming from there. I try to run back in a hurry to see that there's a wall behind me that wasn't there. And after that I just woke up with my heart beating loudly 0 Share this post Link to post

Coopersville Posted July 21 A few nights ago I had the most boring instance of sleep paralysis ever. I woke up facing the wall. I could hear banging coming from somewhere but I just assumed it was noisy neighbours. I didn't try to move; I just laid there mildly annoyed for a minute until I came to and realized what happened. 0 Share this post Link to post
Goat-Avenger Posted August 1 (edited) Not a dream, technically, but, I somehow managed to fall asleep with my eyes open on a few occasions (no idea how, I wasn't trying to). On one of those occasions I experienced probably 2 hours or so of sunrise in about... what felt like 10-30 seconds or so. It was weird watching the sun move so fast. 1 Share this post Link to post
heliumlamb Posted August 1 this was not recently but i vividly remember having a dream where a small, friendly rodent - either mouse or hamster (i think it was hamster) kept trying to climb up my thigh but could not quite make it all the way, so they just kept comically rolling in defeat to get up and do the same, to the point where they got distracted and started rolling around for fun. i think this was a month ago with a dang fever. shouts out to animals i love em 0 Share this post Link to post

It's the universe attempting to assure you that there is only one way to escape from the Sisyphean nightmare of recurrently realising that entropy will ultimately claim everything you strive for: to become a silly little guy and roll about. Which universe? The baby universe. Take 200mg of Nomiya Maki and call me in the morning: 1 Share this post Link to post

One day, I hope to have a chin as magnificent as the king of all cosmos' I keep having dreams about chasing nothing-issues in a non-critical production application from unreasonable stakeholders. I think it might be time to take some time off. 0 Share this post Link to post
scalliano Posted August 1 Trying to do something/go somewhere/solve a problem but never actually managing it, usually due to some external factor. I get those dreams a lot. 0 Share this post Link to post
P_A_Z Posted August 9 (edited) It depends of my activities but last night i had a small dream about the band Neurosis, one of my favorite. I slept on the back, had a good sleep, before i open my eyes i saw a ancient key and i had a vision of the drummer Jason Roeder who gives me a beautiful smile. I was in a totally well-being after this little dream and i had an impression to have found a mystic secret. 0 Share this post Link to post

I get those dreams a lot. A while ago I had a discussions about dreams with my friend, and since we both have these kinds of scenarios from time to time, he theorized that it might be the brain trying to produce some "filler" content for the dream when not being able to come up with something interesting to happen. Of course, this is just one possible interpretation, but my friend told me he'd had a couple of odd dreams -- not lucid dreaming, but some kind of "meta"-dreaming when he could sort of observe the inner workings of how a dream scenario was being generated. I've never had anything like that myself though. Anyway, I had this dream about playing Descent for some reason, but most of the details seem to have evaporated. I vaguely remember it being very hard and I had to try different approaches and/or was running out of ammo/energy. Haven't played that game IRL in quite a while, and never played it a lot really though. I did watch Civvie 11's review of the first two Descent games recently. 0 Share this post Link to post
Eurisko Posted August 11 I recently dreamt that my friend had bought a TEKKEN 3 arcade machine but there was an ants nest on top of it. Giant flying ants emerged from it and I woke myself up by try to swat them away. Weird. 1 Share this post Link to post

Astar Posted August 11 I had a dream that I was playing some kind of non-existent map in CS 1.6 and somewhere I accidentally found a hole in the map, or went beyond the textures in a certain place and because of this I ended up in some kind of a location from which there was no way out. A Voice spoke to me, which said that I could take a peek at what was going on here. And there in the center of the room there was a huge low-poly luminous heart and it made me wildly creepy. Then a Voice says that since you have already looked at the secrets of the universe, now you will die, and hordes of monsters similar to enemies from CS Nexon or from Cry of Fear began to pour into this room 0 Share this post Link to post

AdministrationCenter21 Posted August 27 My dreams are usually about me waiting for something to happen, usually in vast fields of empty space, only for the dream to end before it occurs. It's oddly distressing. 0 Share this post Link to post
Milkeno Posted August 28 (edited) Not really dream related but it's thematically related to dreams and sleeping so I think I should post it here, a few days ago, as I was drifting off to sleep holding my pillow and it felt like it was turning into a comforting blob rather than just a pillow. It was very nice until I woke up slightly and it felt like a just a pillow again. I also had another experience in that in-between state: I was in a 2D computer-like dream but without any input devices or screens. I couldn't tell if I was dreaming or waking up, and I felt unsettled because I wanted to stay in the 2D dream world instead of waking up. Has anyone else experienced similar things between consciousness and unconsciousness? 1 Share this post Link to post
Perfect Bear Posted August 28 My dreams tend to start by setting a fairly realistic scene-- say, for instance, I'm outside at night, looking at the sky. Then, with the veneer of reality thus established, something really stupid will happen-- in this case, the full moon blinks like an eye, making a bike horn sound as it does. I'm startled at how aptly my subconscious will lull me into gentle complacency before rugpulling me, like it's setting up a prank. My childhood self would think she's still lying awake in her own bed for several minutes, when one of the stuffed animals would stand up and start doing jumping jacks. I've stared at a shoe laying on the floor, and then it loudly sneezes, laces fluttering. I've taken a walk down the street with nothing amiss for a while, and then I hear someone trying to get my attention in Keith David's voice, and I turn to see a lion shout "look out!", still sounding like HBO Spawn for whatever reason. I don't know if these even qualify as nightmares. Sure, they startle me awake almost every time, but then I think about what actually happened in the dream, and start laughing. 2 Share this post Link to post

I remember having really good gameplay, and I was depressed when I awoke to find there was no such thing. ): 0 Share this post Link to post

Nothing like what you describe, but quite often in the "drifting" in-between state, I seem to have rather complex thoughts that slowly morph into dreamlike images (possibly illustrating what I am "thinking" about), but then I drift back to the surface and awake, and then I am completely unable to remember what these thoughts or images were about. Whenever I try, I can't get anything better than "someone was doing something". More annoyingly, sometimes in this state I seem to come up with a really funny thought (or image?) and I give a chuckle, which, again, sends me awake, but I am completely unable to remember what the joke or the humorous thing was. I don't have solid evidence, but I have a feeling that these episodes of half-dreaming last for not more than several seconds. This is in contrast with "regular" dreaming (both non-lucid and lucid) where I have rather clear thoughts that I can remember when awake, and which are sometimes correct (no misremembered information from real life) and even interesting on their own. On another note, sometimes I have dreams where I'm sort of watching a film or a TV series but at the same time taking part in it as a character. It makes perfect sense within the dream, but not when you think about it. 0 Share this post Link to post
crusty_charlie Posted August 29 (edited) I had a dream once where I walked up to Beavis and Butthead in the hallways of my old highschool and they were standing in front of a pile of corpses they'd arranged and snickering. Somehow I was okay with this and my reaction was completely nonchalant. Amused, I told them "Man you two have hit a whole new level of depraved today." As if on cue, a teacher walked up to us and scolded them as if their gruesome antics were no more heinous than writing swear words on the walls. She said to them "YOU TWO SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR PARENTS WILL HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?" I was holding back laughter before she turned to me and said "AND YOU, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THAT WAS YOU IN THAT PILE OF BODIES?" I tried to compose myself to speak but I kept keeling over from laughter before she grabbed Beavis and Butthead by their wrists and walked them to the principal's office. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ar_e_en Posted August 29 Sometimes I have dreams that are not centered around me (tho, usually I become a silent observer). The Penn and Teller dream that I mentioned before being one of them. Here's a recent one: Spoiler I had a dream not too long ago where Doug Walker (also known as the Nostalgia Critic) released a new clipless review video about the movie "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". Playing into the meta aspect of "New Nightmare" - the review has Doug and all the other actors play both fictitious versions of themselves as well as their own online personas (in other words - Doug plays two parts - "Doug Walker" the character and "The Nostalgia Critic" character). The weird thing is that "The Nostalgia Critic" character essentially became an analog for "Freddy Krueger" and the final thing that I remember happening in this dream is that "The Nostalgia Critic" character ties "Doug Walker" the character to a chair, sets the house of the Doug character on fire and then the Critic tries to drag both of them to Hell. Doug the character screams in horror, The Critic character laughs with gleeful mania and then I woke up. Overall - a very entertaining dream, I might even say that "It was the greatest dream I've ever seen in my life!", but I'm not going to, because I don't have a disposable cup to shake around, so I'll leave it at that. 0 Share this post Link to post
