Keyboarders.

Are there still any keyboarders out there, or have they all been eliminated by evolution?

When I play vanilla Doom it's keyboarding all the way. When I play ZDoom I use the 'ol mouse&keyboard combo.

I've seen that at least a couple of people do that... is it out of a sense of nostaligia (since we all started off with the keyboard) or because the vertical sensitivity is annoying? In the latter case using something like Novert will make it feel just like in any port (except for the lack of looking up and down, of course.) But then again, it may have to do with other things in some cases; like the fact that doom might not be able to offer the setup one might be used to from using an engine with more varied configuration options.

I only use the mouse when I absolutely have to (this includes computing in general). My wrists can only take so much.

Im a die hard keyboardist, and im pretty good, i can easy win a game with a whole load of mousers. Still use old school keys too, dont like mouse control in doom, never have.

I usually use ZDoom so I use no-autoaim and mlook and use SEDF (to keep my hand on homerow, instead of AWSD) to move/strafe and mouse to change weapons, shoot, aim, and open doors.

Of course, I have prBoom setup to be the normal Doom controls, so when I have to test a level with it, I revert to keyboarding goodness. I'm still pretty good at it, too, so I guess I haven't lost it yet.

The hell with game pads. The winning configuration is keyboard with mouse, using the left and right keys as strafe and right control as jump, enter as use.
