Demonophobia - 7 short maps

Demonophobia is a fast-combats WAD (and is a kind of "die and retry"-like) with 7 maps of limited spaces and monsters fights, giving a play time of around 1 or 2 minutes per map.
Balance is short and ammo waste is *highly* punishing, map are designed to be punctilious with the ressources you have.
 

 

Informations :

 

!!! Pistol start will soft lock you at one time or another, just play on continuous play and make sure you save at the start point of every map !!!

This is absolutely intended and is the major point of this WAD, if you can't play without Pistol start don't play this.

 

Doom II WAD needed.
DoomII format.
Tested with Gzdoom 4.8.2/Prboom+ 2.6.2/DoomRetro 4.5.1 (all work fine).

No jump, no crouch, freelook is as you want.
UV only.
"What this WAD contain ?" : MAP01-02-03-04-05-06-07-(08) map+music replacement ; custom texture pack.

Story : 

"Doomguy ultimately vanquished the demons legions, and now he has returned home. He can abandon his insomnias of eternal massacre and take a deserved sleep ; but something is wrong... What is the Reality and what is the Unreal anymore ? He feel haunted, like a deep traumatism still around his mind and his nights. Where are they now ? These viles creatures plotting the fall of the humanity ? He gets paranoïde, and during his monstrous nightmares he see horrible visions of claustrophobic and hideous fights where

ammunition is lacking and his berserk is his only source of dopamine... He has to find the gem of the Laughing Devil's, he should destroy it ultimately, before his Sins crush him in an endless torture !"

1.0 : release

 

1.1 :  - Fixed an issue where you can infight the imps prematurely so they can teleport before the initial fight in MAP03.

         - Replaced the MAP07 mancubus with revenants at the start point, so you wont get soft locked because of tag666 anymore.

 

1.2 : retextured MAP06 to be more appealing and replaced two arch-viles with hell-knights

Oh yeah i forgot to mention about that. Anyway These maps were pretty fun and entertaining, keep it up.

Recorded in complevel 9. Made it to Map 06...then I got overwhelmed. Just one Arch-vile after the other! And new wads from you after 2 weeks? Not expected!lmd_demoonmphobe-00002.zip

In fact MAP06 is maybe the map I'm the least proud of this pack, I'll certainly patch it

Well since I wasn't definitively sure about MAP06 and a majority of the complaints come from this map, I decided to delete two arch-viles and replace them with hell knights, I also retextured a lot so the map itself is more appealing

Haha nice video, I guess I underestimated the capacities from the player to skip the fights xD

This was actually a lot of fun!  It gets down right mean sometimes but it's 100% doable and it's a fun quick play.  If I had one wish it would be that the secret in map 03 would open the other door.  I mean, I like that you make the player choose between the shotgun and the rocket launcher but I thought when I found the secret switch I was going to get both rooms but alas.  Still a good time!

It's funny you said that about the secret, because it was the case actually, but I found it to be too broken so I changed it.
