fellow doomers, any mobile games you like?

Recommended Posts

we can't always be at our computers playing DOOM. sometimes we're commuting or traveling, and it's good to get some action gaming in on our phones. what are some mobile games ya'll like? games that offer some fast, satisfying, frenetic action?

to start, i'll recommend Kero Blaster. it's pretty cutesy, but the action is solid. made by the guy who made Cave Story.

That dinosaur-endless runner from chrome when you don't have internet.

Nothing else, because I actually don't like playing games on my phone.

I just play Delta Touch and Quad Touch.

I actually recently bought them instead of getting them off of free apk sites.

The most recent versions have a verification built in so you cant pirate them. That meant I couldn't get the most up to date source ports.

Also the fact I was starting to feel bad from basically taking money away from one passionate guy making Delta and Quad Touch.

Galaxy on fire 2 has been well worth the 30 bucks I spent on it.

I have one f2p game I play, but it's a casino disguised as a game, so I won't reccomend it here. But it's one of the few games where over long period of time and more grinding than any of the standard rpg's out there you can stay viable.

... I guess, I like to play Doom? Not that shitty mobile game based on Doom Eternal, I played the RPG games a few times, but I can't really stand playing with touch controls, this is why I prefer playing in a portable console like the Switch.

Also, this should have been in the Everything Else forum, but whatever.

everybody's talking about gaming on the Switch, but i don't even like doing that in portable mode. like, i'll just wait to get home.

I do like space shooter games like Plasma Sky and the Sky force games, anything that keeps the touch controls intuitive and lets me stay in a portrait orientation. Most mobile games don't seem to be designed for a mobile touchscreen very well and litter the screen with "buttons", or are just data farms with endless adverts. I used to enjoy Pinball Arcade until Pinball FX3 bought the rights to the Williams games. I still sometimes play Pokemon GO when out on walks, and there's the occasional word game.

On tablet just Doom on Delta touch (with Switch Pro controller) or Sentinels of the Multiverse as card games work fine with touch controls. Sentinels is a solo or co-op game and does not require online connection. Played X-com Enemy Within on my tablet years ago and that was an amazing port, identical to PC on low settings and only missing maps not features. Other than that I use it for emulating old PSX RPGs and reading.

Only console I use is a Switch Lite, got loads of games for that, love Nintendo stuff and it's nice to play sitting in bed or chillin in the back yard. I also have a GBA for when the sun's too bright.

Well, I mainly play nonogram. It is not stressful, it can be paused at any time does not require perfect conditions and because I like puzzles.

The other game I used to play was BlooKid and BlooKid 2, but to be honest only for the music.

I don't hardcore game on my phone, I have my PC for that, sorry to disappoint :/

Not really into mobile games; Pokémon Go is the only one I play - and playing here means something different from playing actual video games. It's something to fiddle with in my idle time (walking to places like work etc.). The only serious aspect is to half-jokingly compete with a co-worker of mine. And if someone wants to be my friend in it the code is 9558 0971 7651 :P

During a "Blizzard of the Century" nine years ago I still had internet access on an iphone 4, so I downloaded Scribblenauts while I was stuck in the house. I played it a bit, and I realized the power still wasn't back on after a few hours, and figured I should conserve my battery.

It took four days for power to be restored, but after that I charged the phone and played Scribblenauts for a few months off and on after that. It's a fun game.

And yeah, hopefully that was the Blizzard of the Century, it wasn't fun.

Cookie Clicker (Cookie tapper?).

Don't need to do much other than see that big ol' biscuit slowly become the reason everyone in the universe has diabetes. :3

When I was younger and on numerous car trips with my family, you could be sure I'd be playing Jetpack Joyride.

Though my sister was more so privy to Temple Run.

I dabble in the occasional puzzle game. That's it. Most mobile games are ruined by microtransactions.

Yeah, once my Playstation Portable expires, I consider replacing it with a Nintendo Switch or a Steam Deck, depending on how affordable they are. Unless I get a Nintendo 3DS or maybe a refurbished Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS? I do not know.

I got my Playstation Portable from an electronics garbage bin: I had to pay for the missing components (the battery, the power cable and the memory card), but everything else, I got for free. It sucks that game shops no longer seem to sell previous-generation consoles and games.

Most PSPs out there that didn't stopped working 10 years ago should be working by now and they are not showing signals of failure yet, but if yours is from a garbage bin then maybe it can have some problems, and at least where I live it's still relatively easy to find previous generation stuff, a lot of people didn't gave up on their PS2's yet.

Now if you are going from PSP to a modern portable the Switch is the one to go since the Deck seems like it wasn't designed for people that actually like handheld consoles instead focus on it's own niche. The 3DS still is a nice option since it's backwards compatible with the DS but some models need a lot of replacement parts by now if you are not getting a brand new one, I still couldn't restore mine to the state I remember it being in 2012. But if you want to play GBA a broken DS or a clone system can play everything fine.

Oh, it is still working fine, although the Right Trigger is acting up from time to time and thus I have to refrain from using it as much as possible. I strongly supsect it was thrown into the garbage bin because the user just wanted to get rid of it (they even left a UMD in it), as physical stores no longer take older consoles. But yeah, the Switch looks really neat, not just for its library of titles but also its modularity. Unlike most, I was not a big fan of the Wii, but the Switch has to be the future of console gaming!
