joepallai Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) Outpost21 Castle of Evil (CastEvil) Hellrun2 Nostromo's Run OOZI Brundle Nukemine DieYoung The RRWARD series DIOPATRA (note that I like exploratory levels so your mileage may vary on some of these) Forgot these: FORTDTH! Richard Wiles' Dickie series 666EPIS Edited September 7, 2022 by joepallai 5 Share this post Link to post
VoanHead Posted September 7, 2022 To add onto what joepallai said, also try: Hell 2 Pay Batman Doom (the single most impressive deHacked usage I have ever seen right next to Doom 4 Vanilla) Memento Mori II (do not play the first one, the first one is cringe) Heroes 2 (just a bunch of 90s maps brought together, some good some bad, enjoyable experience overall) and finally the darkening 1 & 2 3 Share this post Link to post
bb2731 Posted September 7, 2022 Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely be sure to check them out. 0 Share this post Link to post
RoastDoom Posted September 7, 2022 Requiem is a favourite of mine, well worth playing. I actually enjoyed quite a lot of Memento Mori, but it has some stinkers for sure though(looking at you Kinetic). 3 Share this post Link to post
Alaxzandarz Posted September 7, 2022 Dystopia 3 is definitely worth playing. Very nice looking maps that play pretty well for the time. 1 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted September 7, 2022 Area51, DoomCity, Hellrun2, Bermuda, UAC_Dead - some favourite wads I found online back in the late 90s. Far Side of Phobos, Phobos by Roger Ritenour, Cleimos - episodes I played within the last few years that rubbed me the right way. Theres a ton more 90s/vanilla wads in the Big Vanilla Wad Pack! 7 Share this post Link to post
TheRevenant212 Posted September 7, 2022 Friggin love Area 51 and Doom City although I also really like Fistful of Doom and Star Doom! 1 Share this post Link to post
Somniac Posted October 31, 2022 Fava Beans, Run Buddy, Chord G, anything by Iikka Keränen - Mines for example. 1 Share this post Link to post
ReaperAA Posted October 31, 2022 Apart from the ones already mentioned, I would mention The Darkening E1 (released in 1998) and E2 (2000, although most naps were complete by 1999) E2 in particular while not as exciting as modern wads in general, is surprisingly polished in terms of visuals and has tight encounter and ammo balance. In a way feels like BTSX before BTSX 3 Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted October 31, 2022 Demonfear is pretty good - short, snappy levels, kind of like a predecessor to Scythe. 2 Share this post Link to post
