how do i change brightness in udb

i've been fiddling around with UDB and the only thing i cant find is how to change a sectors brightness

You can either select the sector (press 's' to select and interact with sectors) and right click to edit its properties where you can find its brightness among other things, or you could be in sectors mode and use the scroll wheel while holding down the ctrl key.

UDB has so many shortcut keys that, at times, it is difficult to remember what is what.

An easy way to get an overview of those shortcut keys is to open Preferences (F5) - Controls

and type the search term into Filter, for example

 

 

where it shows a list of assigned and unassigned shortcuts, plus if a key is already assigned for which use in which category.
