What happened to the ORIGINAL release of the Press Release Beta? (and other alphas)

As most of you may already know, id Software has given permission to release the betas and alphas, However, i would love to see the glourious floppies of these, as originally released by id, anybody know what had happened?

Highly doubt such a thing ever existed. The files were probably transferred through FTP or on some hidden area of the Software Creations BBS.

It's a shame that Beta versions of Doom such as the one the press-release is based on, and the one from the Visit to ID Software video aren't anywhere to be found!

The majority came from BBS lists and some got around through email exchanges, so it’s impossible to go back to the source. The Doom team might have the original medias, if those even existed. I think id approved them sometime around ‘98 to be included in the historical archive but they were all BBS leaks prior to that.
